    DJ got 10.5 million.
    Carl Landry got 8.5 million.
    Kwame Brown got 7 million.

This deal for Asik fits in with what the market is saying at this time.

I'm just glad Minnesota hasn't been after Asik. We don't need another white guy...

I see no one learned anything from the lockout.

Hibbert's going to be very, very expensive either way.

There's an 85 percent rule minimum cap now. Teams have to overpay, it's just for shorter contracts.

Ummm not really. You're not factoring in the fact that Kwame and Landry both signed one year deals which inflates the price (obviously if a team doesn't commit more guaranteed years then they get more heavily compensated).

Centers always get overpaid, but this is pretty ridiculous. Also DJ is already considered a bad contract, that's not something Houston should strive to compare Asik to. That's like saying Eric Gordon deserves MAX money because Joe Johnson gets MAX money.... um no, that just means they'd both be overpaid.

And Houston was/is one of those teams that could make a big money push for Hibbert. I'm (I, like it's my money lol) prepared to pay him regardless, but one suitor bowing out is a good thing.

But the fact is that Hibbert is restricted so it's impossible for a team to just take him away, the only way he'd be gone is if he gets an offer sheet Indy doesn't want to match (which shouldn't happen).

If the Rockets don't overpay, then they will have a repeat of last year. They tried to get a big and struck out and ended up giving Dalembert a 2 years, 14 million deal.

The Rockets have no choice but to overpay. They tried for Howard and that didn't work out.

Asik is a far better offensive player than DJ. Defensively DJ is far superior shot blocker, but in terms of other areas of defense, Asik is at least solid.

Hibbert will get full max or near max. That's going to happen.

Little bit I've read says that the Rockets will pay him 11 million for the 3rd and 4th years of the deal.

Looks like a sign-and-trade situation to me.
