Kobe's shown the willingness to adapt his game. He could still be effective in a system like the Spurs. The problem is that the Lakers have shown a complete ineptitude when it comes to building something even resembling a NBA team.

Wasn't Kobe leading the league in shot attempts prior to getting hurt? He's had stretches over the years where he will stop shooting and try to pad assist stats, but he has never proved that he can sustain that kind of play style. He needs the ball in his hands constantly to have any positive effect in a game, which is why he would be terrible on a team like the Spurs.
