MJ was smart to seek a higher ceiling through the draft.. Emoni Bates or some shit that can put them over the top
With the current approach they will have to draft the best player in the draft 2 or 3 consecutive years to build a contender because they aren't going to sign any elite players. There has never even been a rumor that they would sign an All-Star. Here's the reality: Great players want to play with good supporting casts. If the few good players they draft can't be retained they will never have the kind of team a star like James, Leonard, KD, etc. would be willing to join. Instead they are the kind of franchise that good players leave.
From a business perspective I get what Jordan is doing, by sports owner standards he's not rich. But what's good for business for a small market team doesn't seem to be the recipe for building a good team.
