How about this years Celtics and the 95 Magic:

Shaq- 40 min C
Kg- 32 min Pf, 8 min Sf
Pierce- 40 min Sf
Allen- 32 min Sg, 8 min Pg
Hardaway- 40 min Pg
Grant-16 min pf, 8 min c

I like Grant in there for 24 minutes just for defense and rebounding, got more than enough scoring and playmaking everywhere else. I will come up with a better one later.

95 Rockets and Magic

Penny Hardaway 21/4/7 in 38 minutes --> 42 minutes PG
Nick Anderson 16/4/4 in 34 minutes --> 6 minutes PG, 32 minutes SG
Clyde Drexler 21/7/4 in 37 minutes --> 16 minutes SG, 26 minutes SF
Hakeem Olajuwon 28/11/4 in 40 minutes --> 34 minutes PF, 8 minutes C
Shaquille O'Neal 29/11/3 in 37 minutes --> 40 minutes C

6th man Robert Horry 10/5/3 in 32 minutes --> 22 minutes SF, 14 minutes PF

probably worse than my Lakers/Sonics team, but very interesting down low with Hakeem and Shaq.

Congrats man. I can't believe you can get that many posts and still consistently put up top notch dialogue. Your one of the genuine reasons I come here still.

I'll do a couple:

The 83 Sixers and the 86 Celtics

C: Moses, Chief, Walton
PF: McHale, Bird, Bobby Jones
SF: Bird, Doc
SG: Doc, Andrew Toney, Ainge
PG: DJ, Mo

Big: Moses, McHale, Bird, Doc, DJ
Small: McHale, Bird, Doc, Toney, Mo
Fast: Mo, DJ, Toney, Doc, Bird
Slow: DJ, Toney, Bird, Walton, Moses

McHale goes 5/4, Bird 4/3, Doc 3/2, Ainge 2/1, even DJ can go 1/2.

If you push it up a couple years, you lose a little on Moses and Doc, but you can squeeze in a rookie Barkley if you want.

And one that seems crazy, but the current Suns, and the 66 Sixers. I just want to see Wilt run with Nash.

Wilt
Amare, Chet Walker
Marion, Billy Cunningham
Hal Greer, Raja Bell
Steve Nash, Barbosa

Dejordan, thanks for taking all the fun out of the game . I would've picked the exact same line-ups as you.

Congrat DeJ. I know I come off as ying to your Jordan yang, but all in all I agree whole haertedly with alot of the knowledge you spit.

Since I was going to use the Jordan Bulls with my favorite team, I'ma have to change that since you already pulled it off.

83 Sixers + 07 Spurs

PG- Cheeks 30
PG- Parker 18 SG- 8
SG- Ginobili 40 SF- 8
SF- Julius Erving 40
PF- Tim Duncan 40 C- 8
C- Moses Malone 40 PF- 8

Damn, 48 for Duncan and Moses? Switch it up to give J some time at PF and lessen the load on them. Something like...

Cheeks - 36 at PG
Parker - 12 at PG / 28 at SG
Ginobili - 20 at SG / 20 at SF
Erving - 28 at SF / 12 at PF
Duncan - 36 at PF / 6 at C
Malone - 42 at C

Something like that. Maybe.

How about this run and gun team...

02-03 Nets
Jason Kidd
Kenyon Martin
Richard Jefferson

04-05 Suns
Steve Nash
Amare Stoudamire
Shawn Marion

PG
Steve Nash(36 min), Jason Kidd(12 min)
SG
Jason Kidd(30 min), Shawn Marion(18 min)
SF
Richard Jefferson(40 min), Shawn Marion(8 min)
PF
Kenyon Martin(26 min), Shawn Marion(16 min), Amare Stoudamire(6 min)
C
Amare Stoudamire(34 min), Kenyon Martin(14 min)

This team on the fast break would be scary

damn, i can't believe this thread is still on the front page (or back on the front page anyway). thanks for all the kind words, and i'm glad people are having fun with the game.

brunch, way to go the extra mile and explain rotation and strategy! we used to do that while we were messing around (or argue about what would and wouldn't work). i thought about asking people to do that, but it seemed like too much.

thorpe, way to completely ignore the rules yet put together some of the more interesting and unique combinations. i would also like to see wilt in a crazy nash tempo game.

the thing i always focused on with this one was finding teams that had good 4/5 and 3/4 players because most teams have a decent 2 / 3 and a most good 2s can play a little 1 and vice versa.

Yeah, I wanted high IQ, two way players that knew how to move the ball. I love the triangle offense on the rare occasion there is sufficent talent and chemistry to execute it properly.

( I will try and play properly this time)

1988 USSR Olympic Team
Arvydas Sabonis (pre Injury Gold Medal winning version)

2006-07 Spurs

Center: Arvydas Sabonis (34mins C/8min PG)
PF: Tim Duncan (26min PF/ 14 C)
SG: Manu Ginobli ( 40 min SG)
SF: Bruce Bowen ( 38 mins SF)
PG: Tony Parker (40 min PG/8 SG)

6th : Robert Horry (22 min PF/ 10 SF)

Since Parkers always on the floor he could still bring the ball up then hand it off to Sabonis at the top of the key, then play off ball. I would love to see the best 7’3 passer of all time doing limited minutes running the offence in slow half court style. Feeding the slashers and Duncan in the low post from up high.
