Default Game Thread: 76ers @ Nuggets (8:00pm EST)

Philadelphia 76ers (14-19) vs Denver Nuggets (20-12)
Game Preview

@

76ers' Injuries:

F/C: Herbert Hill – Left knee surgery - (Out 4-6 weeks)

Nuggets' Injuries:

F/C: Steven Hunter - Right knee surgery - (Out 6 weeks)

Richie's Keys to Success

* Push the tempo – The Sixers aren’t a great running team, and the Nuggets are coming off a high-scoring game against the Wolves. The Nuggets have to keep the tempo up and try to outrun the Sixers, especially since they aren’t used to the Altitude.

* Assist the ball – The Nuggets have to assist the ball well tonight against a Sixers team that allows 22 apg by their opponents. The Nuggets had great ball movement against the T-Wolves, and they need to keep it up and break down the 76ers’ defense.

* Contain Iguodala – Andre Iguodala is coming off a 6-17 shooting performance and is going to try to pick up his scoring tonight. He’s scoring 20+ points in 8 of his last 12 games. The Nuggets have to look to contain him and not let him be a scorer, rebounder, or playmaker as well as they can.

Speaking of assisting the ball well, AI hasn’t had a double-digit assist game since December 12th, and is averaging just 4.7 assists per contest in his last 7 games, and his season average has dipped down to 6.9. In his last game against Philly, he had 30 points and 9 assists, but also 7 turnovers. Melo averaged 29 ppg on 48% shooting in his career against the Nuggets. Melo had just 4 boards against Minnesota and was rebounding very well prior to that. Hopefully he can hit the glass well tonight. Camby only averages 7 rebounds per game against Philly in his career. Andre Miller averages 8.6 assists in his career against Denver.

if they're going to put Iguodala on Iverson who's going to guard Melo? Rodney Carney? lets run this one through Melo. I can't see anyone stopping him tonight.

Should be an easy win, just can't come out flat.

Sixers the type to keep this game compettitive. I hope Denver spanks them.

Sixers need to rack up losses. But I would like to see Andre Igoudala, Lou Williams, Thaddeus Young, Jason Smith all have a good game/solid effort. I'll keep an eye on those dude. The rest I dont care about. I hope Kenyon flagrant fouls Willie and injures him. Willie is a gun. Rodney is a joke...whomever he guards it will be a long night.

Melo will utterly destroy Carney if that match-up happens.

Anyway, last time this two teams meet Kyle scored a team-high 26 and Diawara scored a career high 23. With Kyle gone, Denver will most likely use zone for the majority of this game.

The key for this game for Denver in my opinion if moving the ball, if they move the ball they can beat any one in the competition. But if they choice to go isolate their stars then Philly has a chance.

this will be Andre Miller's first time back to denver since being traded to philly for Iverson. I really liked Miller so i have a feeling he'll get a warm reception tonight from the fans. as he was a part of turning this franchise around and helped us make it to the playoffs for thr first time in a long long time.

with that being said though i hope the nuggets whope their tinny arsses right out of town tonight.

i see melo and AI tearing up the sixers in this one:)

I think you're wrong. Andre Miller played in Denver last season and Philly won that game.

as long as denver comes out with energy and decides to put out a little effort on D this will be a blowout. you never know with denver thoguh, they might let philly hang around.

are you the one that made the thread about denver's defense?

i watch denver all the time, and what i have observed is that as long as they put out the effort they're just fine on D. sometimes though, it seems to me that they just come out and dont even try to play D . it was happening more often earlier in the season i think. i remember one game vs. the hornets where melo would just not step out to contest rasual butler, who was draining threes. i was just thinking, dude, do you know who rasual butler is? you cant just leave him wide open on the 3 point line all game long, thats like target practice for him.
