    Default Ridicul-ish

*akeem > magic . . . . just can't put him in the same sentence
*larry bird, all the sudden, one of the greatest defenders of all time
*michael jordan faced GOAT-level competition defensively , , , per DRTG

    haha
when 95% of the league is garbage
    WGF about league average

y'kno , , with folks tossin crap around like frisbees
figured i'd toss a few myself while we bullshittin

    here's some advanced stats fya

    PACE/PPG ratio

should help us define whether that was great defense during the 90s
or totally inept offense . . my first look at this crap so bear me out

    pace = possessions per 48

    so 95/100 possessions to get 100 points . . . terrible, right?

then what the hell do you think of the

    97 CAVS - 80 possessions to get 85 points or ATL 85/90
    *both Top 5 DRTG

    98 CLE - SAS - NYK - 90 possessions to get 90 points
    *all Top 5 DRTG

    90 to get 95 , , , not much better, right?

    96 MIA - DET - NJN - NYK
    97 IND - ORL
    98 DET - SEA

all scrubs that finished above league average in DRTG
even the better teams 97 MIA - NYK .. and 98 IND
all Top 5 in DRTG finished in the 90/95 range

    great defenses??!!!!

    hahaha

    most contenders/champions hit 95/105 or 100/115
all but one of jordan's fall into this category
    98 bulls - 90 possessions 95 points

    even they were terrible

    switchin reels

    y'kno
something I thought we'd never see
was anything comparable to the bulls winning
55 games with pete myers replacing michael jordan

either that's the weakest league in sports history or the 93 bulls
were thee most historically stacked team in league
history as compared to it's opposition

with BJA and CBA reject pistol pete myers in SL
    . . . . . . i'ma go ahead and bet the former

and up jumps the 72 new york knickerbockers

coming off 52-30 reg sea and ECF finish the year prior
this knick team won 4 less RS games before knocking off
perennial EC powers BALT and BOS to reach the NBA Finals
all without 1970 1stD - ASG - NBA - FMVP and 7 time all star

    Willis Reed

    wow . . . that marquee read . . . . Wilt vs Phil
    Jackson . . . fmvp and 3rd leading scorer
behind gail goodrich and jerry west
and barely ahead of jimmy mac

but just like duncan's ewingless lockout title

    full credit

much like the sudden hype surrounding bird defensively
where he's being given all the credit when behind him
he had that full-coverage4life pteradactyl protection

"6'10 - reported to have colossal wingspan that stretched to 8'0."
    http://www.thesportster.com/basketba...tory/?view=all

    http://www.complex.com/sports/2012/1...he-80s/1980s-1

    uptop

"the greatest backcourt defender of all time"
    http://www.hardwoodhype.com/2011/02/...ed-dennis.html

    in a nutshell

wings blow by bird , , but run into Parish/McHale . . . bird gets the
block from behind , , innately grabs the ball with one hand and
flings it to dj with the other , dj pushes to ainge , back to dj
to bird a no look touch pass to the trailing parish slamdunk

    "OMG , , , OMG!!!!!
    what a play by bird!!! . .
    an unbelievable play by bird
he has eyes between his nostrils!!!
he can smell it before you cook it, baby!!!

    whoaaaaaa nellieeeeeeeeee"

    once a game

    twice tops

magic clears the glass , , pushes up court and buckets before a
single defender can retreat across half 10-12 times a game
. . . . wins damn near every time he takes the court

    crickets or cries

    RS/PS ........... GAMES ........... DREB ............ BLKS ............ STLS

    bird .............. 897/164 ...... 7217/1323 ...... 755/145 ...... 1556/296
    parish (81-91) 874/154 ...... 6220/1043 ..... 1403/271 ....... 706/130
    mchale ......... 971/169 ....... 4764/797 ...... 1690/281 ........ 344/65

    mch/parish ........................ 11k/1800 ........ 3k/550 .......... 1k/200

instantly , , they point to his fmvp and perennial mvp teammate
kareem . . . nvm he was 10 years in - on the backnine
and bored to death when they hooked up

    kaj (80-89) .... 787/143 ...... 4417/703 ...... 1594/296 ....... 584/123
    magic ............ 906/190 ..... 4958/1116 ....... 374/64 ........ 1724/358

    what he get

    hakeem > magic

    gotta luv it
    further removed we get
    the better these fooz become

    but enough with that . . . . let's chop up

    Kobe's Sidekick Triple

    all they see . . . . a jordan-wannabe
    15.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 4.2 apg, 1.0 spg, 1.4 bpg

    BOOM!!!! . . . that's it . . . sprained ankle be damned

    proper perspective

ONE other player in league history can rival his first title

magic was 20 when he won his first title in what
would have been his junior year in college

kobe was 21 with zero college and won his first
in what would have been his senior year

unlike magic he did it without a ready-made champion like kareem
instead he got it with a guy that'd been swept from the playoffs
like 24 times and considered the biggest loser on the planet
    literally and figuratively . . . . . . bofuvm

but much like magic , , , inexperienced kid on the game's biggest
stage - on the road - in front of a hostile crowd - with the world
watching as shaq fouls out in ot of a pivotally crucial game 4

singlehandedly takes the game over and delivers

    http://ballislife.com/fessing-up-jal...g-kobe-bryant/

this after orchestrating the greatest comeback in LH the round prior

you can't just thrust a guy into the same sentence with magic

    gotta earn it
