2005 Finals
Duncan 20.6 pts / 14.1 rebs / 2.1 asst / 2.1 blks + anchoring the defense
Manu 18.7 pts / 5.9 rebs / 4 asst / 1.3 stl
How could Manu be "clearly the most impactful player on the team" when Duncan outscored him in addition to anchoring the defense? Your agenda is what's CLEAR.

'07 and '14. Defensive anchor.

Re: Which of these Finals MVP selections would you change
Honestly can't think of one since I've been watching that wasn't justified. Perhaps steph should have won this year but he was awful the first couple games and iggy was so tough defensively and so clutch. It seems like he was hitting daggers all series

Re: Which of these Finals MVP selections would you change
I saw the 05 finals but I was too young to remember everything and judge.
08 I think it should be Garnett
15 I had no problem with Iggy winning it at the time but thinking back I think that Curry was the most deserving.

I mean, I know he had an average game7 in those '78 Finals but Unseld wasn't much better and if that was the case, they should've given it to Bobby D.
Elvin scored WAY better than Wes, rebounded at the same rate, played better defense... c'mon now...
Dudes like Kareem or Bird were very aloof (mostly earlier in their careers) with a no-****s-given attitude towards the media that generated some "hate"... But, imho, Hayes takes all of that to greater levels when you look at the whole picture.

I Didn't get to watch that series live but for what I have heard and read he dominated with his rebounding and passing and was extremely clutch in a couple of those Games.

It's called following the leader. The leaders of the pack make it known that they're going with Iggy so all the others follow along just to fit in AND because people have a way of subconsciously forming biases when someone superior to them thinks a certain way (ie "oh, well Bob thinks Iggy is the best in this series and he's a great basketball mind, so I should probably go with Iggy as well")...
Pretty sure if the leaders of the pack went with Lebron, so would everyone else; most people don't operate individually.

So was Kobe in 2000 and yet he was carried and Shaq was the one who did all the work.

While that's a stupid argument for Kobe haters to make, shaq put up 38 and 17. Cedric maxwell...did not...
Plus bird averaged 15 rebounds and 7 assists

Re: Which of these Finals MVP selections would you change
18/10/3 on 57 FG%
15/15/7 on 42 FG%
Not sure I see the problem with it, especially when you consider that Bird played 5 more minutes a game.....

Knew 2010 would come up.
How many times does this myth have to be destroyed?
