His whole first ''retirement'', gambling, betting on games, involved with the mob, wrote checks to a cocaine dealer, committed adultery, had illegitimate kids etc.

That take huge guts to want to take those shots. You want Shaq taking those 3s? Where was Eddie Jones? Where was Van Exel? Nowhere to be found in the most crucial moments of the game. I love both of those guys, but that is what separates Kobe from "good" NBA players.

Those failures are what helped make Kobe Bryant into the assassin he is today on that court. No fear of failure.

This is pathetic. You have nothing but to go back in your time machine to a time when Kobe wasn't creeping up on the GOAT. He was a f**king high school kid. Jordan couldn't even make varsity at some small country-a** high school right away. Kobe was in the NBA. Who wins that comparison? I'll repeat that Jerry West said it was clear after his first 10 minute work out that Kobe was better than anybody they had. However they brrought him along slowly because of his age.

Also, Kobe didn't have the luxury of playing for a weak, worthless team that was desperate for anyone with talent to come in and be the savior. Kobe played for the great and prestigious Los Angeles Lakers. We all see what happened so have fun denying reality and pretending it's 1996. B*tches.

What was MJ doing at 18?

That's right he was a role player at UNC and was forced to make sandwiches for Sam Perkins.

Kobe at 18 was already in the NBA and on his way to becoming the youngest player to ever be selected to an All-Star game and a Slam Dunk champion.

and let's not forget Kobe was well on his way to riding Shaq to his first ring. and arguably the next two.
