Undoubtedly if we're comparing him to the current climate (where Hayward, Irving and Parsons are max players).

If we're basing this strictly on talent/impact, I still think so. The only question I had before the season was chronic knee injuries. I think he's gotten over that now and his most recent injuries were isolated incidents.

He's not a franchise player, per se. I don't think a GM would 'build' a team around Kawhi Leonard. But he has a huge impact on the game and he can be the best player on a championship team.

1) He's a better player than Hayward and Parsons who got the max deals
2) Elite player who is probably the best man to man defender, elite rebounder, and has a consistent jump shot. Hard to find a player of such calibre in the league with the ability to play elite D and a consistent offensive threat as well.

He deserves it quite a bit more than Parsons.

I'm not sure if I'd give Leonard the max but if Parsons is getting it then there's definitely a case to be made. Based on what I think his upside will be, I'd give it to him, though part of that is the current climate of the NBA (Parsons, Irving, Hayward being max players).

He has potential to be really good. he isn't a max player at the rate he is now but he certainly is better than Parsons and Brendan Haywood

Every decent player now gets a max contract. Players like lebron and KD should be getting double what Parsons and Kawhi get.

Leonard is the guy that EVERY team wants. He's the glue guy that is sometimes AS important to the team than the superstar.

He's like a super rich man version of Derek Fisher.

He makes the right plays. Always plays smart. Clutch as hell and pressure situations don't bother him.

That, along with elite defense and being a very good rebounder. Is not an elite scorer but can score from a variety of ways...from the 3, in transition, off the drive, pull up jumpers, etc.

Give the man his money.
