Rarely and very rarely can an NBA player even get their head/hair at rim level. I have seen this guy get his entire head above rim level. Crazy

Kind of depends upon camera angles. It's often tough to tell either way if there isn't a camera totally level with the rim somewhere. Others don't have him appearing quite as high (tried to freeze at his apex, not before or after ascent):





The freeze frames also sort of help illustrate the possible benefit of the boost on those leapfrog dunks. It's not always necessarily about adding multiple inches to a vert, but sometimes it allows a person to stay at peak elevation for a split second longer. In addition, if it gives a jump boost... even a quarter of an inch, it means a dude can still be sitting on air when he'd otherwise be on the downward ascent by that point of the dunk process.
