    Default 30 point scoring seasons

There are 26 players who have averaged 30 or more for a season.

    MJ - 8 times
    Wilt - 7
    Oscar - 6
    West, Iverson, Dantley - 4
Kareem, Kobe, Baylor, McAdoo - 3

Among active players not named Kobe, Durant and James are at 2. James isn't averaging 30 again in a regular season. Durant might. Wonder who will be the next 30 point scorer. Wiggins? Davis?

Dantley had the highest FG% 30 pt season at 58%, incidentally.

James and Durant were the youngest to do it at 21. Wilt and Bellamy were the only rookies to do it, I think. Oh, Oscar also.

Star players take less shots these days. Free defenses make it less effective to depend on one player on offense. Today the best scorers have to be willing and skilled passers.

27 of those scoring seasons (out of 66) were at or above 50%. Hard to call Durant a chucker his MVP season when he carried the Thunder while Westbrook was down on ungodly shooting.

The 50% mark doesn't work for players who only take 2s, you won't ever see a proper team player taking more than 40 field goals a game.

Durant no doubt, best scorer in the game especially if he plays like his MVP season. LeBron and Kobe won't and will never again (Cavs are stacked with scorers and Kobe doesn't have his legs anymore). Probably Wiggins in his 3rd / 4th season as he has the tools to do it.

This. These days the focus is being a two way, efficient, team player and when you're chucking up 1/3 of your teams shots, not only could those possessions be used more efficiently by teammates but also you are expending a lot of effort on one end of the floor.

The lebron era has arrived folks, better get used to it. All the up coming players want to mold their game after him, passing, efficient scoring, and two way players that adfect the game in more than one dimension.

That shooting guard with 8 did it averaging 1 3pa per game. Now imagine him on a 3pt shooting, wide open lanes era.
