It is what it is
Does anyone still think SNL is funny?
I've tried watching here and there and Lord have mercy is it lame af.
It's still on the air so apparently someone is watching. Any of you guys watch it?
The way I see it, when it began with the Not Ready fo Primetime Players, it was really good throughout the 70s. In the 80s it was mostly lame except for Eddie Murphy . Then they had a great run through the 90s and some years in the early 2000s but it has been pretty bad the last decade or so. It's not like I watch religiously are anything close to that but when I watch the newer episodes, I hardly find anything funny at all.
Thoughts?

80s - early 90s was the prime
Now it is awful with the exception of a couple fake commercials and Weekend Update has its moments.

Thanks to Mike Che, WU is turning into white jokes vs black jokes, which most of the time is not funny.

Their diversity hires have been shit.
Mike Che isn't very good at reading cue cards, fvcks up every week
Sasheer Zamata is barely on the show and not funny when she is
And Leslie Jones is well... Leslie Jones...
Lorne needs to stop putting these geeky lame, white, nerdy Harvard boys in the head writer spot. Seth sucked, now Jost.
Josts movie Staten Island Summer was aight tho.
Only bright spot on the show is Cecily

The game show skits are still decent.
The big black ghetto gorilla chick with the spikey hair plays the same character over and over again.

MadTV in it's heyday was funnier.

What I don't understand is how this generation finds humor out of screaming imbeciles like pewtie pie? I guess comedy is at a transition. Sketch comedy isn't funny anymore. Screaming at a video game is

Taran Killam and Kate McKinnon hold this show down. Taran is a throwback to Dana Carvey and Kate to Amy Pohler. Have you seen any clips of Jebidiah Atkinson? Probably the funniest character on SNL right now.

It is one of the worst casts in years, but still has its moments.

Re: Does anyone still think SNL is funny?
i don't even bother anymore. i mean i have the internet if i want to look for something funny.
but no, i'd rather watch stuff like pawn stars...... a show in which an ensemble cast perform little skits with a variety of weekly guests and also teach me all kinds of cool shit about cool stuff.
it's not hilarious, but it's funny and entertaining. that's what i look for in a comedy show.
