Myth: Miami had an easy road to the finals last 2 seasons (EC)

Many members in here complain because Miami plays in east. They say they had an easier roads to the finals. Let s look a that.

2012:
Before the finals, Heat played 18 games . ( including a tough 7 games series with Celtics)
OKC played 15 games.

2013:
Heat played 16 games ( including a tough 7 games series with Pacers)
Spurs played 14 games ( 2 sweeps).

Yeah, easier road to the finals.

With the exception of Indiana and to a lesser degree Boston, the Heat haven't faced a formidable opponent during their trek to the finals. That's no slight against their accomplishments as much as it is a fact. Last year, they literally steamrolled through the Bucks and the injury laden Bulls until they finally encountered friction with Indy.

You can layout out the pre-post season blueprint until your face matches its color. The fact of the matter is, the team that succeeds through the Western conference will have a chunk of flesh bitten out of them to get there.

Yeah, they had a harder path to the finals. As I said, the strength of opponent is subjective. From Heat s perspective, their toughest opponent came from East during 2012 playoffs. Celtics were their toughest even if they had less wins than OKC.
