Bulls grandkid:"When Shaq played he just did well because everybody was just 7-1 feet tops, he would be a scrub today"

I hate to say this, but isn't the current era actually pretty weak? It's probably getting better with guys like Carmelo and Lebron improving, but let's face it 99-07 has been pretty shhiiit. One decent center, on average about 2 or 3 competitive teams in the east, guys like Garnett and Dirk winning MVPs (they are good but would never have got the trophies over MJ, Magic and Bird), half-empty stadiums everywhere, etc etc etc

You are totally correct. Basically any basketball 'person'....coach, historian, announcer, former player all agree with you. The end of the 90's into this decade has been the worst product on a basketball court. So many people in this forum that are younger don't understand that. The game is sloppy, sometimes hard to watch, guys can't hit open shots consistently. So little emphasis on fundamentals and all hype around dunks and 3's. The 80's and 90's were the peak of the NBA but with expansion, you have guys like Hoffa Arujo making NBA teams when they wouldn't have even been considered years ago.
