Default David Stern is damn biased.

Remember the first Maverick-Net trade that failed? Yeah, the one where Stackhouse was forbidden to return to the Mavs after being waived by the Nets.

Quote:
First, Devean George refused to consent to the trade to New Jersey. Now, according to a league source, the league will not allow the Mavericks to bring back Jerry Stackhouse if he is traded and subsequently waived by the New Jersey Nets.

According to one league source, the NBA has already made one of the teams aware of its position.

"The league has taken Stackhouse out of the deal," the source said. "They said, 'He can be in the trade, but he can't go back to Dallas after that.'

Brent Barry resigns with Spurs after 30 days rest.

Quote:
The 36-year-old shooting guard, traded to the Seattle SuperSonics on Feb. 20 but waived by Seattle on Feb. 22, signed a new contract with the Spurs after the team's 88-81 victory Sunday over the Dallas Mavericks.

Quote:

"I'm very happy and excited to be back with the Spurs," Barry said. "There's definitely some peace of mind that there's some finality to this.

"My focus now is getting back in basketball shape and trying to contribute to what this team is trying to do."

League rules prohibited Barry from re-joining the Spurs for 30 days after the trade, which brought power forward-center Kurt Thomas to San Antonio.

Well, David Stern is a scumbag. What did you expect from the person that used a scapegoat to take away the attention from him and his ways.

This isnt all that rare I dont think. Didnt Gary Payton do the same thing?

I suppose the leagues problem is how Stackhouse going back to Dallas seemed to be a part of the deal. Like an unofficial under the table thing to get around league rules concerning waived players.

It happens but its rarely so open with the players even mentioning it in the media. Wasnt stackhouse calling it a 30 day vacation and so on?

its definitely allowed by the league rules. what stern didnt like about the stackhouse thing was he announced to the media before the deal took place that he intended to go back to dallas.

Let me make this clear yo you. The reason the NBA didn't allow Stackhouse to resign with Dallas after thirty days is because you can't PLAN IT AHEAD OF TIME. the team can't decide that such player is gonna come back. Stackhouse opened his big mouth and said: i'll just take a 30 day break and i'll be back here. his words came before the deal was over. he admitted the team had planned this which is illegal. David Stern is not bias.

Stern doesn't like anything that Stackhouse says or does. Matter of a fact, I don't think Stern likes the Dallas Mavericks.

Stern does not like Mark Cuban and will do all with in his power to see him fail… kind of pathetic really…

Oh well… it is what it is and the Mavs got Stackhouse AND Kidd in the end…

Had stack kept his mouth shut it would have ended up working out. He basically forced the leagues hand by opening his mouth.

This is true…

I do think that had another player on another team had mentioned something about "coming back", it might have fallen on deaf ears at the league front office unless another organization made mention of it.

The league even made a big deal about KVH actually suiting up and playing/practicing with the team but made no mention about Aaron McKie having to do the same…

this was planned ahead of time too. There was never any real doubt Barry was coming back. FIrst there was all the talk about how the Spurs cleared out Elson's locker but not Barry's, then there was the Spur's season ticket holders function he was hanging out at even though he was no longer a Spur.

Stern just doesn't like Cuban and will do whatever he can to stick it to him
