Whether he cares about HK at this point is irrelevant. The problem is he supports a disruptive attention seeking protest by Kaepernick that targets the American flag on one hand while criticizing a quickly deleted tweet that was supportive of HK and by implication critical of China.

If LeBron didn't say anything about Morey one could conclude that he just supports free speech. But by criticizing Morey LeBron's position can be distilled to this:

If LeBron is now chastising Morey for not thinking of the ramifications of his tweet, LeBron is fully culpable for looking like a complete hypocrite for not considering the ramifications of his earlier support for Kaepernick's protest and opposition now to Morey's tweet. If some nut used Kaepernick's protest as motivation for some hate crime would LeBron be responsible because he supported Kaepernick?

If LeBron is for free speech really he should come up with a statement at a minimum that is as clear as Stotts's or Stevens's and better would be to apologize to Morey for questioning his free expression while adding his caveat.

It's no doubt too much to ask any poster on this thread to understand the difference between protesting treatment of blacks (in one's home country) is vastly different than protesting a an extradition bill which later led to protesting for greater political autonomy (in a foreign country).

Then again, this is the same country where ~60% don't have passports and are generally among the worst in the developed world at geography.

I also don't like what I see with these Hong Kong protestors calling LeBron an orangutan and the N-word. There were other people who expressed skepticism at their protests, who were not black, and didn't get any kind of racist reaction.
