Default 2008: Paul Pierce > Kobe Bryant?

    If so, then

    2017: Durant > LeBron too?

Take your pick. I say both are false for OBVIOUS reasons

I disagree. In 2017, KD surpassed Lebron. Just like Pierce surpassed Kobe in 08

Not even close lmao. Pierce could coast all season with the team they had and averaged less points, rebounds, assists & steals on worse efficiency than Kobe in the Playoffs.. In fact, Pierce's Playoff raw averages were almost identical to those in the RS, despite the added minutes.... Y'all do realize Kobe averaged 30/6/6 on ~58%TS in the 2008 Playoffs despite the efficiency in the Finals? Pierce wasn't even the best player on his own team in the Finals when he won that MVP, that was Ray Allen..And their bench is the main reason they were able to win that Finals in the first place..

Look at these Game 2 numbers

Kobe has 30 points 8 assists 3 steals on ~58%TS and is a +8, their whole starting line-up has a positive net-rating and they outscore the Celtics 41 - 25 in the 4th, but their bench was so bad in their limited minutes (Walton -16 in 12 minutes, Farmar -16 in 18 minutes) that Boston got the 2 - 0 lead on the series. It would have been a different series, had the Lakers pulled that one out which would have been the biggest single-game comeback in Finals/Playoffs history. Kobe brought them from 24 down in the 4th to 2 pts and Pierce flops his way to a foul to put them up 4 with 22 seconds left..This series was called heavily in Boston's favour throughout. Celtics had 28 more FTs in Game 2.
