Shaq had the best individual season. Kobe/Duncan had the best career with maybe a slight edge to the Bean.

Switched Dirk and KG after thinkin about it. KG soft on offense often, Dirk soft mentally early in his career. But I think Dirk by the time he was at his absolute peak stride was more dominant. His 2011 playoff run is too epic.

It was basically a chronological series where each of the big 4 players that are in contention for this title had their "moment": Shaq, followed by Duncan, followed by Kobe, followed by LeBron.

Of the four, Kobe had the shortest and least dominant stay at the very top... however he's been near the top for longer than anyone else so he's got a good argument at this stage. Shaq had the most dominant peak, but I think Duncan separated himself from him by having a dominant peak of his own AND lasting longer as a championship caliber franchise player who gets it done on both ends. For now my heart says Duncan because he's got the best combination of individual excellence, team success and consistency of the lot, but if LeBron stays at the top for two more years he'll essentially settle the debate. If he somehow crashes this year it'll remain an open question for a long while.
