Is Lebron now an elite 3 point shooter?
Or if not, is it at least a significant strength of his game?
Just for some perspective, someone like his teammate Kyrie who is considered an elite shooter has made 1.7 threes a game at a clip of .377 since he entered the league. In that same time, Bron has been hitting the three at a rate of .385, with 1.3 made 3 pointers a game.
Kevin Love, another 3 point champion is another one of his teammates he has outperformed over his last 4 or 5 seasons in terms of percentages.

Yes, he's an elite 3 point shooter has been for 3 years now. It's a legitimate weapon, but team's will settle for him taking them given how devastating his inside game is//was.

Re: Is Lebron now an elite 3 point shooter?
No, he's good, not elite. To be elite you have to be one of the best in the league at a certain thing. There are clearly some guys in a different stratosphere to Bron when it comes to shooting the ball.

A lebron catch and shoot three is one of the most deadly weapons in the game, he's been top 5 in that category for the last 3 years. It's a shame he's lest adept at off-dribble three's/ transition three's.

Very good 3PT shooter - not elite.

Re: Is Lebron now an elite 3 point shooter?
Elite is Steph Curry, Kyle Korver, Klay Thompson, Damian Lillard, and a few others.
LeBron is not up there with those guys. He's good, but not with the NBA's best.

Why Can LeBron James Shoot Three-Pointers All Of A Sudden?
http://hoopchalk.com/2013/05/29/why-...l-of-a-sudden/
and elite spot up shooting
He crushed the rest of the league in PER last season with a 31.7, just shy of his career high. He shot a ridiculous 56.5 percent from the field. He scored more points in the paint per game than anybody else in the league. He dished out more assists than most point guards. He registered a higher rebound rate than Marc Gasol and Robin Lopez. Defensively, he's tall, quick and strong enough to guard just about anyone in the league, and he almost did.
And if all that wasn't enough, consider this: He now wields one of the most potent jumpers in the league. Only Jose Calderon averaged more points per spot-up play than James, according to Synergy Sports.
Most efficient spot-up players, 2012-13 regular season(Min. 100 plays)
Player Plays Points PPP
Jose Calderon 187 281 1.50
LeBron James 143 195 1.36
Kyle Korver 224 301 1.34
Steve Nash 114 153 1.32
Stephen Curry 226 294 1.30
James' name pops up near the top of all the jump-shot leaderboards for last season. And that includes the unguarded catch-and-shoot category, in which he effectively shot 73.1 percent once you account for the added value of 3s. Only five players were more lethal with open shots. While he couldn't find his shot in the Finals until the very end, he ended up converting 37.5 percent of his 3s in the postseason, which is well above average. (For perspective, Kevin Durant shot 31.3 percent from deep in the playoffs.)

He's one of the best at catch and shooting. Top 5 in the nba. But yeah, his off the dribble or pullup is just average.

Yep, pretty consistently year to year too, kind of dent's the theory that Lebron is awful off the ball.

Yep, if he improved his shot speed he could stop taking off balance threes and rely on the quick trigger to get the shot off. Obviously easier said then done.
