I think the problem some people have with him is that they simply can't stand when a person who has been successful time and time again in life makes an assertion or expresses an opinion unapologetically. It comes across as smug to them, even though I don't think Steve Kerr is truly arrogant or smug. Just in his little bubble of success.

Here's the inside scoop. Durant's beef with Kerr started once day when he came to practice and asked if they could play Darius Rucker songs over the PA system. Kerr told him he doesn't want to listen to Hootie sing a milquetoast country pop cover of "Wagon Wheel" when he could just listen to the real thing. KD got mad and stormed off the court ranting about how it was bullshit his coach just called him a fake.

Chef & Klay dont carry that mentality and allowed kerr to help their dynasty blossom. Kevin probably wouldve gotten him fired if he was there from the start, but he had no pull as a team hopper.

I love the espn interview of steph were they asked him about his reaction to the interview of KD dude had to pause awhile but still replied in a classy manner.
