A Heat/Thunder match up would have massively higher ratings, it would create a potential rivalry for the next several years to come, and it will cause a firestorm of publicity for the league. The NBA has been waiting for the Bird/Magic element to flare again for a long time, (and was praying for Kobe/Lebron).

A celtics matchup is just one last hurrah as they, in all likelihood, get slaughtered by OKC. It'll be lucky to last past 5 games, and the storyline would turn from an exciting new rivalry along with James/Durant comparisons... To a monologue on old Guys.

So it's all based on a potential storyline for the future? OK. Is Durant-LeBron not a rivalry now? Does it DESERVE to be a rivalry if the Heat can't beat the Celtics, with a hobbled Pierce, no Avery Bradley and no big man depth?
