    Default Spurs are garbage without Parker

    Especially at the end of games...absolutely no one to run the offense.

    He'll be healthy soon, along with Kawhi. No worries. After this tough stretch it'll be smooth sailing

    They are playing themselves out of HCA and there's no way they go deep in the WC playoffs that way

    That's not exactly startling or news, though. Parker's been their starting PG for over 10 years and he's an AS to boot. Plus there was no Ginobili, Mills, or Green either. No Kawhi, Duncan, or Splitter. All things considered Cory Joseph was decent tonight (... but he's no Parker)

    Oh god here we ****ing go again

    Parker, right now and last year, has been the most overrated point guard in the NBA.

    It's not like the Spurs were also missing Duncan, Kawhi, Ginobili, Green, Splitter, Mills...Tony Parker, the GOAT PG being out was the reason they lost.

    'Garbage' is a strong word. They didn't play any of their main guys tonight. The 2 games before that, they went to b2b 3OT against great teams in the Blazers and Memphis... without Kahwi as well. 38 year old Timmy has been doing work.

    If they manage to get healthy by the playoffs, they'll run the table like they did last year. Only Memphis can give them issues IMO. Maybe Dallas now that they have Rondo.

    Lol?

    Pop's system is so superior you can insert any random 5 NBA players into the Spurs starting lineup and they will have a solid chance of winning against any team.

    He literally sat his top five players and you're claiming they lost because Parker is missing? Insert any of Duncan, Manu, Kawhi, etc into the lineup and the Spurs easily win.

    In fact, the entire Spurs team is pretty average, it's Pop that makes them look so good. Boris, Patty, Danny, Thiago etc, would be much worse players on a different team.

    Spurs E team took Dallas to the wire. They'll beat Mavs and Grizzlies in 5.

    Spurs only matchup issues will still be OKC and possibly the Rockets. Anyone else with or without HCA they can beat.

    Bullsh*t. You put Jamaal Tinsley in place of Parker all these years, he has a Finals MVP as well, and San Antonio has probably at least 7 titles. Without Duncan, I doubt Tony would've even made it to the NBA D-League

    Great post...but even to this day, Duncan and Kawhi are certainly not 'pretty average'. Duncan was a star before Pop ever touched him (and he's still way above average as a player today), and Chip had more to do with Kawhi's development as a player than anyone else.

    The Spurs need a healthy Parker, but the team can win without him.

    Spurs Record without Parker (2011/12 - 2014/15)

    29 - 16 (.644)

    The short-handed Spurs made mistakes, but I think they've been incredibly unlucky.

    0:07 - N. Young makes 3-pt shot from 30 ft -> 112-110

    0:00 - M. Gasol makes 3-pt shot from 30 ft -> 92-92

    0:01 - D. Lillard makes 2-pt shot from 1 ft -> 97-97

    Really?

    Popovich's record without Duncan

    72 - 94 (.434)

    Pop's system is great and all but it's the players that make it work. While it's true you might be able to replace some of the 3PT shooters (Patty, Green, Bellinelli) and still do damage in the playoffs, but it's players like Parker, Leonard, and Duncan that really make it work. Leonard and Duncan on the defensive end of course, but it's really Parker who gets the Spurs offense rolling. Parker's value to Spurs has been undervalued in the past few years. It's true against some teams the Spurs offense flows better without him at times, but in close games he's still the most reliable player on the team. Spurs don't lose those two triple OT with a healthy Parker.

    You can take Parker, Leonard, or Duncan out for a few games and the Spurs will continue to win, but come playoff time the Spurs will go nowhere without those 3 players healthy. Maybe past the first round but a deep playoff run is out of the question completely.
