Rudy Gay, two-time 20 PPG scorer
Neither times over 21 PPG. He's currently 20.7 this season, his career highest. He's had a bunch of 19 PPG seasons but still seems way underwhelming for a guy of his caliber.
I'd thought he's at least have one season of 25 PPG by now but nope.
No All-Star selections. He's capped his ceiling already right? This is all we're gonna get from Rudy Gay?

Re: Rudy Gay, two-time 20 PPG scorer
He's got all the tools to be a Top 10 player in the game (or close to it), but he never maximized his talent properly. He thinks about what others say about him and tries to prove a point by going hero ball. Remember how he was considered too passive coming into the league ?
I do like that he's playing better when he's not the main guy, but off course the Kings management had to ruin all that.

Re: Rudy Gay, two-time 20 PPG scorer
His play helps keep the opposing defense honest, where as his defense relies on players behind him to make the accurate adjustments
Igudala compared to Gay's play is a little bit like the guy who helps create spacing on offense to let your players rely on their fundamental, and a defensive guy who is well aware of the 3pt line(at least during his prime until his athletcism slowly fades away J-rich style)
Paul George's defense really helps push the opposing team big man to slightly get out of the painted area to get the ball, which then usually leaves out the elbow area, hence why perhaps the Heat ran so many switches with them to get the player who they want with the passes the pacers allowed.
His offense, which is contributed by his 3 point shooting contributes more points. But it leaves him more as a stationary 3 guy off ball, where as Rudy with setting plays and rebounding

At his best, he was a level below a peak Danny Granger.
And a level above your Corey Maggette's, Jason Richardson's, ect.
He was right with Josh Smith, Steven Jackson.

Re: Rudy Gay, two-time 20 PPG scorer
Super talented player who just doesn't grasp how to play within himself. Just another case of a guy with all the talent in the world but a subpar understanding of how to play the game the right way. He seems like one of the better guys in the league so I do wish him well but what you see is what you get with Rudy.

He can never be a #1 option, he will continue to play well in Sacramento behind Cousins.

Re: Rudy Gay, two-time 20 PPG scorer
The Kings are 2-21 (roughly) when Rudy Gay/Isaiah Thomas have been the #1 option's when Cousins was injured from last year till today. The team is 2-9 this year with Rudy Gay as the main guy with losses to Orlando (without Vuc), the Lakers and Detriot and the only wins were a fluke OT win against the Pacers and beating the dreadful Jazz.
This is on pace for the worst record in NBA history, that's all you need to know. He gets carried and bailed out by Collison and Cousins.
It's a tragedy how often Mclemore and Collison are frozen out of the offense when they can both be weapons.
But sadly talent wise the Kings could never do better than Rudy @SF so you take it, after all it's better than John Salmons.
I also think Rudy Gay is a much better #2 option than Tyreke Evans ever was.
