This. They severely underperformed. They should have at least 3-peated (beating the Mavs in 2011) and made a series against the Spurs this year instead of getting steamrolled. It's one thing to lose in 6 or 7 games, but to get blown out every game and win just one is unacceptable.

When you win a title (2012)) where the odds have you as the underdog before tipoff, it's not under performing.

Exactly. People need to stop simplifying and rationalizing everything by saying, "well golly gee, they won two rings and made the Finals every year, any team would take that!!" Well no shit. That isn't the point though.

You have to look at context. You have to consider that 2 of the 3 best players in the entire league at the time AND a 24/11 All-Star Top 5 PF formed the foundation for this team.

And then you have to consider how awful the East has been. You can't just ignore these things and say they won 2 rings and went to 4 Finals!! Context matters. All things considered, they make it to the Finals 2 times at the max. (In fact, the more I think about it, the more I think they only make 1 finals in the 4 years playing real competition in route to the Finals.)

So are we going to say 3 of the 80's Lakers titles were pathetic when they went to 4 straight finals? Look at the team records they faced before the finals started.
