i don't really see it that way. i'm a jordan fan all day but also enjoy watching kobe, and i think he's being fair. it's nothing in comparison to what we've seen from niner and kenneth.

I have this game (and the series) on VHS. When you see this play from the normal game angle it's amazing, because he just explodes past the defender and shoots this finger-roll/floater with such soft touch off the glass from basically FLAT to the baseline and it goes in. Amazing play.

MJ was truly a spectacle. God amongst men. The most complete basketball player we'll ever see.

Kobe modeled MJ's game to perfection, and in doing so progressed it further. This doesn't imply he's better. They are in the same tier however.

Both GOATs that could completely dominate the league.

Thanks for the GIFs, they demonstrate how fluid MJs movements were on the court and how miles ahead they were of their time.

I've always said that Kobe is the closest to MJ as far as scoring skills set. But he hasn't progressed anything. For progress to occur he would need to do things 'better' or at the very least more consistently, but he does neither. At the most he's equal to MJ in an aspect or two, but that's about it (at most).

To MJ's benefit, he was blessed with superior hands, athleticism and IQ.

MJ was also more fundamentally sound which only made most of his moves appear to be more natural and easier.

It's obvious that kobe patterned his game after MJ, but it's still less efficient and just not as pretty. But he tries.
