OKC could've had 3 potential MVPs
We were robbed of a dynasty.

Re: OKC could've had 3 potential MVPs
If Harden stayed there he wouldn't be viewed the same way. Back when he was with the Thunder the main guy he was compared to was Manu Ginobili. He could never have done the things he's doing as their scorer off the bench. You just don't see a team with three guys scoring 25+. As a Thunder Harden would have a hard time even averaging 20.

NBA rookie of the year
Re: OKC could've had 3 potential MVPs
but he'd still have the opportunity to show his MVP caliber (assuming he was still there this year, KD and WB went down)

Exactly. Harden needs the ball to be effective and there aren't enough balls for all three of them to play the way they play on the same team weather he started or came off the bench. He wouldn't be what he is in Houston. It's just that simple.

Cheap owner, don't blame the cap... they could have kept them together

Re: OKC could've had 3 potential MVPs
No way in hell Harden, Westbrook, and Durant can score 27 points a game while on the same team.. Like others have stated, Harden needed to be traded in order to take that next step.

Re: OKC could've had 3 potential MVPs
What is Harden going to be doing while Westbrook is dominating the ball? Or, what is Westbrook going to be doing while Harden is dominating the ball? It's hard enough for Westbrook and Durant to figure out how to maximize their respective games on the same floor, together. Luckily, KD is a 7-foot sharp-shooter who could probably fit in any offense, so it works.
But, to throw a third high usage guy into that mix? I really don't see how they'd ever get the best out of one another, unless you simply split WB and Harden up... play each guy, like, 24 minutes a night.

NBA All-star
Re: OKC could've had 3 potential MVPs
Harden was excellent with the Thunder outside of his Finals disappearance act. Extremely efficient off the bench and played a lot more consistent defense since he didn't need to conserve as much energy. I just wonder how long Harden would've been willing to remain in his role
