Default Have you ever thought about writing a book?

Sup guys, ever thought about writing a book? Any good ideas that you never put on paper?
I'm trying to write this book about a good husband turned serial killer. I wrote the beginning and the ending, but damn is the middle part the hardest, all the dialogues and shit.
Anybody ever tried writing a book?

I did actually. I had a weird idea about a god figure that manifests itself as a benevolent, loving deity to one civilization and as a cruel, bloodthirsty deity to another. There would be one book detailing how each civilization lives through the eyes of one central character's eyes for each and then another book would detail these two civilizations encountering each other for the first time. I didn't have all of the story beats worked out for that second one, but war and love happens. I did work up a pretty serious outline and sketches of the characters.

Then a friend suggested Karen Miller's Godspeaker trilogy to me and I was devastated to see that someone had more or less already written my idea. Haven't had what I'd consider an idea worth writing about since.

Every day I think about it but I am not sure where to start.

I was thinking of writing about alternative universe/timeline where the Nazis win and the Japanese lose. America continues fighting on their own 40 years after England falls. Both sides have nukes but not willing to be use them due to worries of global nuclear fallout (kind of like the cold war). I write about an United States special forces reconnaissance mission before a major American offensive attack in late 1980's. Still thinking what else I can do with that plot to truly add a mindf*ck storyline to it to stick out from other alternative universe stories.

When im really successful, ill probably write a book about career philosophy, business, and my own interpretation of modern Taoism and how it all can be applied to achieve success and more importantly, happiness.

Also, i always wanted to write a black book of recipes for a single bachelor.

Yea I had a pretty legit concept for a novel with the main theme being Occam's Razor but I let a lot of the smaller ideas fizzle away into nothingness

Yup. Opted to write screenplays instead. Used to get high and write short stories back in the day.

Yes. I want to spend a decade or 10 years of my life writing. Has of now I'm just reading a lot. One idea I got from my job. A big hospital with a serial killer..a whodunit. I'm not sure if I can write novels, short stories and novelettes seem more feasible to me right now.

Must have taken you a long time to write these short stories seeing as you can't type.

Copy/Paste is the best thing to happen to you.

The first step would be to learn proper spelling and grammar.

"I want to re-create an Ansel Adams book I have. A bunch of pictures of Yosemite."

The syntax can be improved upon as well.
