Default Kobe was one of the few handful of players in history who....

...had the IQ and game sense and have the foresight to be able to make this kind of a pass to the cutter while being a 30ppg scoring threat:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EA3r3bjBRWg

As soon as he got the ball in the back court he already decided exactly how that play was going to unfold. He had the attention and resistence of 4 defenders but decided they didn't matter.

None of the top players in the league today other than Bran have the game sense to make this kind of a play. Not Harden. Not Kawhi. Not Durant.

People need to check themselves before disrespecting Kobe with these current players.

Not to mention him getting the ball to Fisher for the game-winner in OT.

I have to question his throwing a behind the back no look at such a huge moment in the game, but that's what makes him Kobe and not Curry, who threw it out of bounds.

Great jumpshooters like Kobe command a different level of defensive attention because if he hits 2 or 3 jumpers in a row, his team gets juiced and win the quarter going away

So obviously defenses meet Kobe at the rim with multiple defenders like all penetrators, but they must also double him on the perimeter to get the ball out of his hands (the only way to stop a hot jumper)

Players that don't get hot from the perimeter get single-covered - the defense stays at home on teammates and has less adjustments in general - Kobe's game wasn't exploitable in this fashion

And as the video shows, Kobe is the most dynamic scorer the game has ever seen, aside from 87-90' MJ.

Seeing OP hype this up I thought I was about to see Kobe make a pass while jumping on the backboard, throwing it off someone in the stands, via the scorers table and the jumbotron right on the money for a Fisher 3. Turns out it was just an above average handoff.

And a 30/5/5 stat profile (a focus on timely scoring without hurting teammates) is a better winning profile then 27/7/7 (trying to do everything/stepping on teammates toes/less timely scoring)
