Default Phoenix Suns among those pursuing Goran Dragic's brother

The Suns have expressed interest in Goran Dragic's younger brother, along with Cleveland, Dallas, Indiana, Sacramento and San Antonio. Zoran Dragic, 25, is supposed to report this weekend for his new contract extension with Spanish club Unicaja Malaga but he does have an NBA escape clause to leave this year. It includes a $1.1 million buyout, of which an NBA team could contribute a maximum of $600,000.

Because he was undrafted in 2011, there is no limit on what a salary for the younger Dragic could be. His salary would need to be more than $2 million to justify sacrificing $500,000 of his own money in the buyout and walking away from a Malaga contract that would pay him about $1.4 million this year, along with most of his living expenses.

Zoran, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard, just teamed with Goran to helped 13th-ranked Slovenia reach the World Cup quarterfinals before losing to the United States. Zoran averaged 12.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 26.3 minutes per game of seven World Cup contests. He shot 50 percent from the field, including 43 percent from 3-point range.

Zoran can be similar to watch as a relentless worker with a left-handed stroke but he has a better defensive reputation than does Goran, and is bigger.

Zoran's presence in Phoenix would be a considerable help to the Suns' hopes of retaining Goran next year, when he can become a free agent, but Goran already has expressed a desire to remain with the Suns. Adding Zoran would also further load up a Suns backcourt that already has Goran, Isaiah Thomas, Gerald Green, Archie Goodwin, Tyler Ennis and, it is assumed, Eric Bledsoe.
Really hoping we can land him. Though the team could use some work to strengthen the frontcourt rotation, going after Zoran might work wonders for the already most improved player Goran Dragic. And you know when San Antonio wants that foreign talent, it says alot.

The synergy is always there between the brothers like what we seen from the Morris bros. And we ain't exactly set at SG, especially with the unknown case with Bledsoe. Green is established and plays very well with Goran, but Goodwin is an undergoing project. Zoran will make a good backup, and will benefit while playing with Goran.

PS: Congrats Phoenix Mercury on becoming WNBA champions 2014.
