Default Leandro Barbosa to Warriors; 1 year vet min

BILBAO, Spain -- ‎Brazil guard Leandro Barbosa has reached an agreement to sign with the Golden State Warriors for the upcoming season, ESPN.com has learned.

Leandro Barbosa, who reached an agreement with Golden State, has previously played for Phoenix, Indiana, Toronto and Boston.
After Barbosa received initial interest from the Miami Heat, Golden State has secured a commitment from the 31-year-old on a one-year deal at the veteran minimum, according to NBA front-office sources.

Barbosa played 20 games last season with the Phoenix Suns, with whom he broke into the NBA in 2003-04. He's also had stints in Indiana, Toronto and Boston.

The Warriors have been looking for guard depth and happily struck a deal with Barbosa before this weekend's start of the FIBA World Cup in Spain. The Heat, meanwhile, on Wednesday signed fellow veteran Shannon Brown to add to their backcourt.

Barbosa joins fellow NBA veterans Nene, Tiago Splitter and Anderson Varejao in leading a Brazilian squad that sees itself as a real contender for the championship along with the two consensus favorites: Team USA and host Spain.

Asked recently about his NBA future, Barbosa told ESPN.com: "Man, I'm just really focused on this World Cup."
Don't know if we need Livingston and Barbosa, two combo guards. Barbosa is a nice vet to have though.

It's a good addition, was hoping we'd snag him up but it is what it is.

Barbosa faded quickly. He was a speedster type player and when he turned 30, he wasn't the same as he was when he played in Phoenix.

He was never touted as Nash's replacement. That would be Dragic (and he did just that).

That's what age does to a player that relies on speed. He's still serviceable, a great signing imo.

I thought he got injured and that's what really started his decline. Or am I misremembering?

Yeah no one will admit it now, but back before everyone jumped off the suns bandwagon, many suns fans on this forum were saying Barbosa was Nash's successor, and that if Nash left there would be no dropoff

No one will admit that now but some ESPN analysts and suns fans were claiming barbosa had superstar potential

Like Amare, he was a product of the Nash/D'Antoni system. He's too old now to have any sort of playoffs impact.

He had a pretty good stint with the Celtics before he got injured.

Played pretty well for the national team, still a good signing IMO

Warriors revitalized JO's career. Don't be too sure.
