Re: Source: Raptors prefer trading Lowry over Calerdon?
I've been seeing that in quite a few places over the last few months, especially since after Calderon took back the startig pg position. While I wouldn't mind tradig him in some sort of package deal if we got a good value in return (because I do feel he's a high quality starting point guard talent), what would scare me about that is locking Calderon into another high paying long-term deal.
Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry is seen within the organization as a potential trading piece, league sources told CBSsports.com's Ken Berger. Berger then linked the Raptors as the "most realistic" landing spot for Pau Gasol and that the Raptors would rather trade Lowry than starter Jose Calderon.
The Raptors have been less than pleased with Lowry in his first season since he was traded from the Houston Rockets for Gary Forbes and a first-round pick (a pick that, in turn, went to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the James Harden deal), Berger said. Lowry has averaged 13.8 points and 5.8 assists in 30 games this season; perhaps more importantly, Berger said Lowry has "not made many friends in his new surroundings."
Berger also said flipping Lowry in a potential deal for Gasol could be seen as a way to redeem surrendering the future first-round pick.
Also among a handful of teams Berger listed as possible Gasol suitors were the Minnesota Timberwolves (where he would team up with fellow Spaniard Ricky Rubio), the Atlanta Hawks, Utah Jazz and Milwaukee Bucks.
Lowry injured his ankle on Jan. 15 but has played in all five team games since.
That's really so typical of them though since BC took over. Hire a chef who's specialty is lamb, beef, chicken and shrimp when you are wanting vegetarian cuisine. Get pissed that he's good at what he's been doing his whole career but not at what you want him to change into, blame him, ship him out for a marginal talent in return. Hand Calderon the chef's hat.
Re: Source: Raptors prefer trading Lowry over Calerdon?
Anyone on this team should be available for the right return, including Lowry.
I just don't think BC should be the one making that decision (and I don't think he has the authority to do anything like that at this point)... really think the unilateral authority he has had has been taken away from him by the new MLSE board.
Re: Source: Raptors prefer trading Lowry over Calerdon?
As I've said thousands of times, I would be fine with both being traded and the team rebuilding from scratch. But if you're going to keep one and you choose Calderon over Lowry then that is pure insanity.

Well if you don't trade him then you have to re sign him at a starting salary of over 5 or 6 mill. If you won't pay him over Mle he will leave. And even then he could pull a ray Allen and turn down 7 to take 5 for someone else.
That's why you want Felton who is locked in for 4 years 4 mill per
If you still believe in the tank the easiest way is no real nba pg's. trade them both.
What was it 2 months ago that Lowry was your clear cut best player? I remember how excited this board was.
