Good enough deal for both teams. NJ might as well use that cap space on something and gave up nothing of real value for Okur. If he's crap or gets injured then theres no long term responsibility on their part. Helps them now that Lopez is injured also.

Jazz clear some more capspace, get a TE and open up more playing time at the 4-5 for their young guys.

A trade exception is a salary dump. It creates a big salary slot you can use for a trade, but isn't amount that counts against your cap or any cash outlay. If you make a trade and lose a player for cap room, it automatically makes a trade exception.

Unless philly wantes to do 2 trades, it wouldnt matter if they want any of your players. TPE cant be combined with anything in a trade except for picks(?) I believe.

Okur really hasn't been good in some time, at least relative to what he's getting paid.

Seems like a good deal for both teams. Salary dump for UT and immediate contribution for NJN.

Kinda sad how far Memo has fallen though.

Wait a freakin' second.... I FIGURED IT OUT!

Utah is slowly stacking players, lotto picks (by likely being a bad team), AND capspace to make a run in 2012 at (get this)......:

    Well played Kevin O'connor...well played.

Cool! Who's next Jefferson? Harris? Wish Raja had been in the deal too.

If AK47 signs in NJ when he comes back from Europe, it's the NJ Jazz (Williams, Okur, AK47
    You forgot Deshawn and Humphries.

opens up the full MLE if they wanna use it right? Not that there's anyone out there to use it on. Gilbert Arenas in Utah'd be funny.
    Wilson Chandler? Brooks?

The twitter folk saying its salary dump and I think they're right. $10 million saved in a blink of an eye.
More than a salary dump. He's their 5th big maybe 6th right now with the way Kanter and Evans have played!

Okur really hasn't been good in some time, at least relative to what he's getting paid.

Kinda sad how far Memo has fallen though.
Never was worth what he's been paid. He should be a back-up. He does one thing well. How far has he fallen? If he can still hit the 3 he's the same guy.

Imagine if the jazz tank this year and get a top 3 pick(harrison Barnes) and sign dwill. Then trade Al Jefferson+Milsap+Harris+GS first round pick to NO for Eric Gordon and Kaman.

    Dwill/Watson
    Gordon/Hayward
    Barnes/Miles
    Favors/Kanter
    Kaman/Kanter

He can't be moved for 6 months though, right?
This would negatively affect the Nets pursuit of Dwight, at least in the short term.

New Jersey pretty much cannot trade for dwight during the season, they still will have the cap space to sign dwight though since they all 1 year deal guys.

Or, the Jazz trade Al Jeff, Harris, and Bell for cap space, tank this year and get a top 3 pick (Barnes), sign D-Will, and then D-Will convinces Dwight Howard to sign in Utah

    Deron/Watson/Tinsley
    Hayward/Miles
    Barnes/Burks

    Howard/Kanter

Fans of big markets everywhere cry foul.

Is that a rule in the CBA or is there something I don't know. Wasnt Rasheed traded to the Hawks and then traded to a different team later that week? I thought there was a certain date where it was possible. a date near the deadline... no?
