Default 275 Pound Joey Dorsey Broke The Glass On The Backboard

And yes, they use the same exact backboards that the NBA uses.

After the game, Dorsey was asked how much he weighs, and he said 275 pounds.

I'm not sure if the backboard was defective or not, since they are supposed to handle up to 400 pounds.

I once weighted 275lbs, but that was because of an eating disorder I had on account of kids calling me skin and bones as a kid. Years later I grew out of my skinny physique into rather a large human being. I used to eat1 12 eggs and 5 sausage patties for breakfast topped off w/ a french toast/pancake sampler. Washed down with 1qt of whole milk, and 3 cups of orange juize with whipped cream ontop.

For an early snack I would steal my dogs 'beggin strips, and guzzle a 2 liter of coca cola 'xtra calorie addition. Then for lunch I would wolf down 3 big mac's and the all you can eat french fry free-for all at mcdonalds.

Dinner time was a different story all together, I would go to Golden Corral and stay for 4 hours. The owner at one point asked me to leave, but I said, "no way jose" and ate like a beast

its not an nba backboard because its impossible to break them since the rim is not connected to any part of the glass anymore. theres a hole cut and the rims are connected straight to the support beam. the backboard isnt put through a single bit of stress from any dunk in the nba

that was obviously some second rate fiba net

Not to be contradictory, but I actually think FIBA baskets feature different rim systems, which as small of a detail as it may seem, could in fact make the difference in terms of shatterability.

Here's a somewhat close shot of the NBA's rims for comparison:

Even with that said, it's still a pretty awesome clip. Regardless of the rim used, a support behind the rim itself is supposed to chop down on the ability to shatter a backboard. It actually warms my heart to know it's still possible to pull off on that type of stanchion. Though, it was a strange and unique shatter. Usually, it seems the glass tends to break upon the initial force (often from the weight of one's body collapsing on the rim). It was weird to see Graham dunk, hang, then have the backboard shatter.

Again though, I appreciate the clip.

I hate to burst your bubble, but FIBA has the same regulations as the NBA does. That is why I wondered if it might have been defective.

Has nothing to do with the glass and everything to do with the type of rim used and how it's set up. The glass used on backboards in the NBA can be broken, just not with the way the rims are set up. It doesn't allow for it. Just like how they changed the hydraulics after Shaq took an entire goal down.

FIBA uses a double rim, no? The NBA doesn't use double rims. So, FIBA doesn't use the same thing the NBA does, Euroleague. If they did, they wouldn't have people breaking backboards.
