How come Bird didn't need to be ripped?
Larry Bird with that body and a lot less athleticism than Lebron averaged more rebounds and the same number of blocked shots.

Because basketball is a game where you can get by without elite strength or athleticism. Compare it to the NFL. Nearly every goddamn one of them SOB's can lift a shitload.
I still think that ALOT of players are selling themselves short. They are all naturally gifted anthropology wise. Look at Karl Malone. I'm sure he had some nice numbers.

Re: Why doesn't all NBA players have a body like LeBron?
Because most BB players don't have the time and commitment to throw in lifting weights 1-2hrs 4-5 days week with consistency and eating right. A lot of them just weight train over the summer and that's it. A lot of them rather try to perfect their game and just work on balling and not realize weight training helps a ton in that.

Re: Why doesn't all NBA players have a body like LeBron?
Does anyone know why lebron can move so well while being that heavy? What makes him able to do it?
I don't want a "genetics" answer, give me something better. And exercise regimen too, I hear he does yoga and biking which help durability a lot.

He has alot of muscle mass, and he has low BF %. Think NFL players. There is a direct correlation between LBM and strength, and stronger athletes are generally better athletes. Check olympic sprinters.

Sprinters have the highest ratio of fast twitch muscles, which is good for sprinting and jumping. But the're not good for endurance. Longer distance runners have a higher slow-twitch ratio, with middle having a balance. It makes less sense to pack on muscle mass as the running event gets longer. You'll also notice that it doesn't make sense for soccer players to pack on a lot of muscle. They have to run too much.
Lebron is a great physical speciman, but he does tire out at times.
