He had unique court vision and was an extremely intelligent player and great shooter. Nash worked hard on his improvement through the years.
Rule changes gave Nash more space to operate than he had before with the Mavs (when he was already a solid player):

I also helps that he had some fantastic shooters and finishers around him, that all played at a high pace.

IMO the biggest thing that aided Nash was the increased work he put in to keep his body healthy.

The main reason the Mavs didn't think twice about matching (and why many thought the Suns deal was a massive over payment at the time) was b/c Nash was always wearing down and getting hurt by season's end.

He has said the shock of Dallas refusing to match helped motivate him to do a better job of taking care of his body.

SamuraiSWISH said AI primarily played off the ball. Are you seriously gonna talk ball with a dude who clearly never watched basketball,
    Smoke?

3rd team All-Def? And this guy claims to be a coach.

Iverson dribbled a lot to initiate his own offense, but he absolutely played off the ball. Sixers had him running off picks constantly while Eric Snow initiated the offense, and HANDLED THE BALL. Aaron McKie as well.

I love Nash because envious and petty fvckboys throw TANTRUMS on the regular when he's mentioned.

    2 Time MVP, baby!

Your text will never take that away

I can't even respond in a serious manner to these kind of threads which is disappointing because Nash can never be discussed without bitchy stans expressing their internal pain and sorrow

    Keep typing!

Dude is arguably one of the most ball dominant players of all time and you said he primarily played off ball. Great analysis, Coach.

What the fuck happened to that thread?

if danatoni made him why didn't he make anybody else???? lin had a good run then he ran into south beach and got bodied and never was the same. soooooo yea explain that.

dallas made the dumbest mistake ever by releasing an aging guard whose game was never predicated on athleticism and nash took that fire and let it fuel him...that's what made him great not dantoni's shitty ass high school offense. sorry
