Arrow Is Leanord really 'that' much better than last season?

Watched several games of him this season, including the Warrior game that he shined in. Tons of people are saying he has improved by a massive amount so far into this year, 7 games in. His jumper at times looks smooth, but I don't know how much of an improvement it is.

Lets compare stats via a small 7 game sample from this season
    15/16
    21/7/2/2
    PER 24

    16/17
    26/5/3/2
    PER 27

I think he's definitely improved a bit based on a few games, but I don't think there is some huge jump that some fans are making it out to be. Now lets look at his shooting %.

    15/16
    FGA 15 2P% .528 3P% .44 FG% .506

    16/17/
    FGA 17 2P% .528 3P% .33 FG% .479

He's taken two more shots per game, but his %s are down, it isn't as if he is keeping up the same stats. Saying that, he is averaging 6PPG+ compared to last year. What is the main difference? Well, he's learned how to get to the line a lot more (Dame is similar this year, but that's for another topic)

    15/16
    FTA 4.6 FT% .874

    15/16
    FTA 9.0 FT% .968

So he's not only taking 4 1/2 more FTs per game, he's also scoring them at an insanely effective rate. But if people disagree (which I imagine all Spurs fans will ), you're more than welcome to tell me why I'm wrong.

He looks more aggressive offensively and more comfortable and willing of handling the ball and taking over the offense for stretches. This is crucial for playoff success.

Leonard has actually played much worse, granted in less playing time. From 8.4 to 3 points, 5.1 to 1.7 boards....just gross. Even only shooting 30.4% from the field.

    Nasty
