I'd say 2. He wouldn't have a player like Shaq hindering his development as a superstar. Fact is, it must have been quite challenging for Kobe to overcome the abuse he took as a very young man from Shaq. Shaq was bigger, stronger, and in his prime. Kobe eventually had enough and shipped his ass out, understandably.

Calipari said ultimately he picked Kittles because he thought Kobe would take several years to develop and Calipari would have been fired by then if they didn't do super well. He drafted Kittles in part for self preservation. Calipari only lasted 4 years.

Kobe won back to back titles with jordan farmar and sasha vujacic as his 3rd and 4th best team mates. with his 2nd best team mate never making an allstar game. and his #1 team mate never winning a playoff game in his life without kobe. the 2009 and 2010 lakers had ZEEEEEEERO NBA hall of fame players after KOBE... 90% of the guys dropped out of the nba not more than a few years later.
