    Lightbulb Triangle Offense

Lets scrap the Triangle and go for a motion offense. I dont think the Triangle is capitalizing on players athleticism and fast-break potential.

What athleticism? Don't have bigs that can run, don't have wings that finish, and don't have the guards to push the ball. Are you talking about the team of the future, or the few pieces in place?

It's pretty obvious that the only talent the team currently has is Carmelo and bargnani. Both players fit really well in the triangle. Team needs 6-8 more guys to run any system successfully, there's still time to build the system they want

    The Triangle is useless.

Carmelo has never been built around. By players whose games compliment his talents and take him to the spots on the floor where he could be a superstar. Not necessarily the spots he thinks he likes the most but the spots and situations his unique skill set (almost all time) would allow him to become as good as his pure talent makes possible.

The triangle is a really good idea for Carmelo individually. He is not today's prototype sf, he is not the perimeter playing ball handler, he can do that at an all star level though. He is a true forward in the old school sense of the word skill wise.

People forget that positions are defensive and that defensively you want Carmelo spending the season defending 3's and some/most of the time the weaker option of the 2's and 3s. You do not want to try to make it through seasons with him defending 4's. Will not make it.

But that's the beauty of the triangle if they ever pull it off. You want Carmelo defending 3's, but offensively you want him playing the role normally associated with the 4 or actually the 5 Center position. And you want him guarded by a 2 or 3. Theoretically the triangle allows the swapping of roles.

Bargnani and Jason smith are the 2 best fits with Carmelo of the top 10 players too. I guess Calderon and those two as the top 3. Prime Calderon would be a great fit w Carmelo. Best 2 fits ever w Carmelo have been Chauncey and Camby. Nene close behind.

Building around Carmelo is what should be done and the triangle is the system to do they. The thing is, it's hard. You need some bigs that can do some unique things or at the least a wing that can. The Lamar Odom at the 4 and Scottie pippen at the point3 are some examples of a player swapping traditional roles of the position to have mismatches or advantages.

The most important things to building around Carmelo are having a 4,5, or both that have to be defended at the perimeter and a pg or guard that does as well. Prime Calderon would be that guy, he isn't that guy anymore. Great backup pg/6th man is best case scenario

Carmelo uses his unique skill to the fullest he plays a more controlled game from closer to the basket. He is not the dribble from the perimeter to the hoop player. He is an inside out offense type player. Triangle should be, and looks to be here to stay for the near future at least.

We need to go back to the way we were playing when we won 54 games just 3 years ago.

The only team we struggled with that year was Indiana. Miami was beatable.

    There is a miracle coming

Win lottery pick #1 (fans:excited but not iced the top, because they "deserved" it. And now they're scared because of thinking they'll get the wrong one of the two big guys)

Draft okafor (the fans go crazy w joy)

There has been a trade: okafor, Calderon, thj, Aldrich for Lavine, pekovic & pick 2: KAT (confusion followed by "Phil is a genius")

There has been another trade "NY trades KAT and 2018 for picks 4,6, and 17 + tony wroten" (fans riot, "phire Phil.com" fans are shocked and pissed)

W the 4th and 6th picks NY selects D' Russ and WCS and at 17 Dekker (the "we traded okafor and towns?" Questions have the fanbase divided)

Divided fanbase turns into mass anger when the free agent signings are: bargnani, shved, and Jason smith. But that's not it. Phil uses every last dollar to sign 1 year deal w Kevin Love (what? 4 white guys? PhirePhil.com becomes the top website in the world)

Then the season starts and even this fa base realizes that was the greatest offseason of all time

    Miracle offseason- next dynasty

    Russell/wroten/Powell
    Lavine/shved
    Carmelo/dekker/wear
    Love/WCS
    Bargnani/pekovic/smith

    Important parts are

-hopefully okafor and towns have great trade value. Because wcs is the big the Knicks need and if they could grab some other pieces it could be a huge day.

Love, Bargs and Melo? That's what he's spouting now? I blocked him... it's not even entertaining anymore.

Tanked all year for a good pick. Now he wants to trade it.

Trading pick 1, Calderon, 2018 1st and thj
    For
Wcs, d'angelo Russell, z Lavine, wroten, and pecovic

That would be the greatest draft day trade of all time- and other teams think the value is close.

Okafor and towns are not the superstars people think. Okafor will start out good and last being good. Towns might grow into special and he might become just good

You are forgetting that the trade builds an entire backcourt of Russell, Lavine, and wroten. Plus pekovic.

If you think the trade is bad for the Knicks you just don't understand talent. If you think the other teams wouldn't do it than I could understand that

Phil is not stupid enough to trade Okafor and Towns in the same draft.

I just read it again....Love signs a 1 year deal?
