A day after Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant withdrew from the U.S. national team, Sacramento Kings forward Rudy Gay took his spot on the roster.

Gay, who has international experience, reached out to USA Basketball to express his interest in contributing. He played for the U.S. gold-medal-winning team in the 2010 world championships and was one of the final cuts made on the 2012 U.S. Olympic roster.

"We both felt he would be a valuable addition because of his outstanding skills and the fact that he is so familiar with USA Basketball and our national team program," USA Basketball managing director Jerry Colangelo said
