With the way the Greek NT has totally shafted him with his role and playing time, no surprise he's having a rough time. I'm just glad he isn't putting up shitty stats in the NBA, arbitrary numbers like 2.7 ppg on 32% shooting.

Still think it's hilarious that he was a Greek League all-star at just 17 years old, before anyone outside of Greece knew a damn thing about him.

****ing OJ Mayo and 3 JV high school players could probably take out the Greek NT playing 4 on 5 - so long as they keep Giannis in basketball jail the way they do in the NT.

and according to Milbuck since he was the 4th best player on a 2nd division team in Greece and the 5th to 6th best player on Greece's under 20 national team, he was also "the best player in the Euroleague"....

And according to clowns like Rooster, CavsFTW, Dr.J4ever, gabepizza, qrich, the list goes on and on here, since he was a rotation player on one of the worst teams in the NBA, "he is automatically better than anyone on Greece's national team"...........

Probably too hard to judge him just yet after his first true professional level game. Since playing with the Bucks and in NBA summer league surely does not count as that.

This was definitely a deer in the headlights type of game. He is playing at a level that is severely above anything he has ever seen before.

The coach of Greece's national team has said over and over and over to the media when they ask him these dumb questions like is he going to lead the team, coming from this same delusion about some kind of NBA superiority and he keeps saying he's nothing more than a 19 year old kid and that's all he is.

They even put Nikos Zisis as having a personal job to spend half his damn time just teaching him basic fundamentals and skills.

Anyway, of course he will get better in time, as he is just in shock at having to play actual real professional basketball for the first time in his life. The Bucks and the summer league is like 5 levels lower than serious European national teams.

So this is sort of like the shock and awe phase for him, being thrown in the proverbial fire if you will.

It just goes to show how completely freaking insane these NBA only fans are.

I said it here over and over, if he was on Olympiacos or Panathinaikos last year, he would not have even gotten any playing time. And that was 100% obvious and confirmed watching him. If Giankovits and Pappas were 11 and 12 men in Panathinaikos, then Giannis would be no better than a 13 man in Panathinaikos.

The main reason he is in the national team, even with all the absences is because they simply want to get him used to being in the team and want to develop him. That's basically it. He's obviously not there on merit. Even Giankovits is more deserving to be in the team at his position in reality.

He's there basically I think to try to make some athletic plays and to try to cause some disruption with his length and maybe get some turnovers and make plays on the fast break for easy baskets. That's what Spanoulis requested from the federation after EuroBasket last summer, that they get some types of players like that. Guys that could just create some athleticism and make some types of hustle plays.

He's not there based on who is the best overall player at his position that is available at this time, even with the absences.
I came to the thread for this. Not even gonna read it. May come back and read it, just to know it happened is enough at this point.

Thank god Greece has some new blood. This is how they performed with Spanoulis on the world stage recently.

    2013 Eurobasket - 11th place
2012 Olympic qualifying tournament - eliminated by Nigeria
    2010 FIBA WC - 11th place.

Spanoulis has transformed Greek basketball from a top team in the world to a national joke. The whole world laughed at Greece and Spanoulis in 2010, 2012 and 2013 where he got embarrassed by the likes of Nigeria and Finland.

No matter how bad Antekounmpo plays this summer there is no way he can embarrass the Greek nation any more than that super scrub Spanoulis. Greek national team has no where to go but up without him playing.

I'm not discrediting him. I'm a big fan and really want him to do well, especially to piss off the racists here.
But he has a long way to go to be able to contribute consistently at this level.

Giannis is still raw, but only a fool would deny his potential. He's one of a kind, with the ability to make plays few players in the history of the game have been able to make... A next generation freak.

0 points, 0/3fgs in 16 minutes. Put in some hustle though.

I'm still optimistic. We shouldn't judge this young man harshly. Just the experience of training with so many good players will do wonders for his development. In this month he might show more improvement than in the past 2 years.

Giannis, keep working hard and you'll get there!
Disappointing. I want him to do well.

True. But this gives no excuse for the absurd and ridiculous trolling people like Milbuck and gabepizza are doing, calling him the "best Greek player ever", "best player in Euroleague" (when he never even played in Euroleague), etc.

Yeah sure, he's the "best Greek player ever" over... Giannakis, Spanoulis, Galis, Papaloukas, Fasoulas, Christodoulou, Diamantidis, Kokalis, Koroneos, Stojakovic, Koufos, Calathes, Seikaly, Tsakalidis, Fotsis, Schorstanitis, Rentzias, Tsartaris, Amerikanos, Kolokythas, Bourousis, Zoupas, Trontzos, Sigalas, Zisis....and about 50 other Greek players. No point to even list them, because it's just getting tiresome.

The point is Milbuck and gabepizza and these idiots need to stop this crazy trolling.

He is even being given special treatment by Greece and the coach by being put in the team at age 19, even though he's not really good enough to even be in it, and already you have numerous claims here that the coach and other players are "racist against him" and that they are making him play bad.

This shit is absolutely outrageous and if this stuff was said about any NBA players and coaches there would be all kinds of complaints for people saying that. He's a very, very talented young 19 year old kid. Let him be a kid and develop.

And gabepizza with all his racist crap needs to be banned again.
