    Default GTAV is boring af

98% being a taxi driver, delivery boy, commute A to B

2% actual missions that are easy as hell, uninteresting

The entire 80 mission campain is a tutorial from start to finish, every 30 seconds you're learning a new button layout for every action. The controls and mechanics are clunky as hell. By the time you actually acquire $$$ for decent property, the story wraps. No endgame DLC, repetetive side missions and online multiplayer is a sloth grind...

It felt like a chore to get through. The entire game your character is a chore boy

    Highlights:

    1. Huge immersive world to free roam
    2. Trevor
    3. Character dialogue

I loved it. Great story, great map, lots of side stuff to do. Random events, random characters, a ton of collectibles and easter eggs to find.

The problem with the game is that it tried to be everything for everyone. It tried to combine the grounded realism of GTA IV with some zaniness thrown in to satisfy the San Andreas fanboys. It kind of worked. But really, GTA needs to play like a serious crime drama. Leave the cartoonish shit to stuff like Saints Row.

Also, the 3 protagonists weren't great. Trevor was a cartoon character, Michael was a whiny schmuck, and Franklin was a token black guy to the letter. No Niko Belics or Arthur Morgans to be found here.

Do you think a more dark Mafia 1,2,3 - series style?

I just thought the gameplay mechanics in general on foot were atrocious. The gun play especially, pop up, shoot, pop down, reload, rince, wash, repeat. A corky stealth mechanic that gets used maybe twice the entire campaign

But you can't say they didn't nail the Los Angeles area and surroundings to a T, it's perfect

some rumors Bully 2 may be works next for Rockstar. The first one was legit

online definitely is a grind fest. bought gtav on ps3 at debut then again on ps4 when it debuted and still only lvl 60ish onlne. (that like 5-6 years now?)

but the content they keep adding to it is pretty amazing - the casino is fun AF.

I found it better than RDR2 imo. I had a blast with GTAV. Wish single player got a lot of the DLC though.

GTA V was great, and when it was released it really felt like it had broken new ground in an open world setting.

BUT better than RDR2? Uhhh no. GTA V aged at least 10 years when RDR2 was released. Everything I love about Rockstar games was taken to new levels in RDR2.

One other thing about GTA V, that I neglected to mention before - the map was clearly designed with online in mind. All those rolling hills with nothing on them, for off road racing. Cant enter the casino, recetrack etc. I wish Rockstar would revert back to single player DLC.

I cracked up how similar they replicated San Bernadino county (Sandy Shores) and the trailer park meth out there, even down to the accents

It's the weakest GTA since GTA 2. Lowest quality writing and characters.

There are definitely some parts of the game that are just tedious. I found a savegame editor so I was able to cut out some of the worst offenders. I gave each character $10 million to start with so I wouldn't have to screw with the stock market and could buy the expensive properties earlier. I also maxed out the skills for reach character (Stamina, stealth, flying, etc) so I didn't have to waste a bunch of time at the firing range or flight school or running around mindlessly just to get my endurance up. With that stuff out of the way I'm spending a lot more time having fun and less time doing mindless busywork.

I have a friend who thinks the same thing and it absolutely blows my mind. He claims RDR2 is boring because "you do the same thing over and over again", yet he loves games like fortnite lol.

RDR2 is one of the best games I have played in a looooong time. LONG time. Fantastic story, fantastic graphics, SO MUCH to do...nothing (to me) feels like it's the "same thing over and over". Even the hunting feels different every time, hunting for legendary animals specifically.

I still haven't finished the game. A lot of that has to do with me playing games less due to life, but even when I do find myself playing RDR2 I go slow with the story meanwhile I try to do the side stuff. Side missions that are labeled, side missions that exist once you enter certain areas (cannibal people, brother/sister killers who stash your cash behind "momma", the rapist who LITERALLY RAPES YOU!!), legendary animals to hunt....I mean so much shit dude.

RDR2 lived up to the hype, fully.

As for GTA, I finished GTA 5 when it was on xbox 360...ps4 I started the story but never finished. Recently, me and my gamer friends have played together occasionally online. It's decent but extremely tedious.

I yearn for a story mode that is innovative and original like GTA 4. Niko Belic was such a good character...even if he was a Serb COUSINNNNN, LET'S GO BOWLING?!

Strictly speaking multiplayer though, my favorite is Rocket League. Unfortunately, there are no other multiplayer games quite like it which is a shame....you get on, get in a party, and ready up. Within 5 minutes from turning on the PS4, you are in a game playing. The games are only 5-10 minutes (depending on OT and # of goals scored due to replays taking more time), so you can run 3-4 in 30 minutes time if that's all you wanna run. GTA5 it takes 1hr 30minutes just to do the setups to a heist...stupid asf.

There will never be another Niko Belic. Arthur Morgan was a GREAT protagonist, one of the best ever......but Niko was iconic. His personality and sense of humor added so much to the game.

Yeah the missions are tedious. It felt like a chore half the time. But the map is huge, detailed and immersive. Tbh I very much enjoy just driving around listening to tunes over doing the actual missions.

Red Dead Redemption is the sorta the same but the missions are actually fun most of the time and the environment is even more gorgeous which is why it’s a superior game. GTA has better online play though.
