    Hmm tough one.

He fell off pretty quick in the late 90's.

If you only count the Bulls Championship era and exclude centers then you could possibly sneak him into the top 5.

I don't know about Top 5 during the whole of the 90s...

I would definitely put Pip behind MJ, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Shaq, Hakeem Olajuwon, Zo Mourning, Gary Payton just off the top of my head. Peak maybe has an argument just outside of top 5ish but the whole of the 90s? No.We're talking now about including players who came into the league in the mid 90s like Kevin Garnett, Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill etc...

Skip Bayless, who covered those Bulls, said Pippen wasn't a top 10 player

    1. MJ
    2. Hakeem
    3. Shaq
    4. Robinson
    5. Malone
    6. Barkley
    7. Ewing

Pippen wasn't better than any of these guys at any point in the 90's..

Other guys like Penny, Hill, Payton, Drexler, Derrick Coleman, Vin Baker, Kemp and MANY more were better for various stretches

He was underrated in the 90s, since he was a sidekick. Overrated now because his name in association with Jordan outshines pretty much every other star from the 90s. And he's propped up a lot by those trying to diminish Jordan's legacy, where what they say about what they didn't see becomes reality in their mind. (There was even a thread once about Pippen being the 2nd greatest player of the 90s.)

A 13 year old now will know who Scottie Pippen is, and maybe know who Hakeem Olajuwon is. Would probably not know who Ewing was, or even Anfernee Hardaway.

Skip says a lot of stupid things.

Pippen was... somewhere between the two choices? Not a top 5 player in the 90's, but certainly better than a role player. He would have been the best player on most teams during that era.
