Great chess match between Blatt and Kerr
While Blatt has brain farts in management, he is Thibs like in strategy. Both he and Kerr have been playing chess match with each other.
Hack s Thompson worked momentarily until Blatt realized to not bait into leaving him out there.
Blatt realizes Curry is the weak link defensively and they exploit match up.
Kerr wants to get mis-matches and Blatt realizing this, has refused to cater to that.
Can you guys give some examples of how each guy has been utilizing strategy?

I haven't been tracking Bogut's free throw shooting lately, but any time a game is getting out of hand, or the Warriors are cutting into their lead, just do hack a Bogut...
With him off the floor it opens up so much room for Bron to get to the ring, and forces Draymond to play closer to the ring.

Re: Great chess match between Blatt and Kerr
Blatt wants GS's guard to put the ball on floor and take it to the rim. Neither Thompson or Curry can consistently be relied upon to that unless J.R. Smith is guarding them. The Warriors haven't looked comfortable all series. It's going to take more ref-rigging and fluke shooting games from Igoudala to keep them in this series

Yeah, one is playing with the King and the other with the Queen.

Blatt seems to be ok with contested layups right now over the 3. He is literally telling those guys to not allow even a contested 3 from Klay or Steph.
He also is forcing Curry to be more of a PG. Curry lacks the strength to finish in traffic consistently.

Re: Great chess match between Blatt and Kerr
From the 2 games so far, I think their defensive plans are the following
Kerr plan: Let Lebron get his
Blatt: Double/triple Curry if Necessary because Curry is their main offensive facilitator.
I feel like Kerr should utilize his bench more because they have a deep roster. Use this as an advantage and let the starters freshen up alittle more.
Cavs can hardly do that because their bench players are mostly old veterans with injuries

If you throw multiple bodies at Curry he's shook, if you do that to LeBron he needles a pass for open three.

Game 2 saw Kerr hard doubling Lebron once he got deep in the post. Kerr seemed to take Lebron much more serious which resulted in better ball movement for Cleveland.
Lebron seemed to make quicker decisions with the ball before the double came.
Blatt is daring Curry and Klay to drive to the basket. He is refusing to give up even a contested 3.

Very good NBA starter

Yup. Klay did a lot of damage on midrange jumpers last night. I'll take that all day.
Take away what GSW is great at. Force them to play a style that doesn't cater to their ungodly 3 point shooting.

Blatt isolates Lebron on strongside against 1 defender by putting the other 4 offensive players behind 3-point line on weakside.. And like ALL teams in today's game, GS is helpless to counter the weakside spacing that allows this type of pure, 100% isolation on the strongside (1-defender strongside):
There is no counter to the 1-defender strongside - if MJ played today, there would be nothing preventing him from isolating against a 1-defender strongside on EVERY PLAY..
In Lebron's case, he isolates the most often of any player in the entire league, despite having low isolation efficiency stats.. In regular season, Lebron ranked only 78th out of 350 in isolation PPP, while his FG% ranked 117th out of 350.. In the playoffs, Lebron is 35th out of 40 in isolation PPP, and 30th out of 40 in FG%.

If Lebron can isolate more often than anyone else and find team success despite such low efficiency stats, what impact would MJ's league-leading isolation efficiency have?

Re: Great chess match between Blatt and Kerr
Was playing delly on klay letting him go for like 20 in the first half part of blatt's "chess game"?
Klay was literally getting the ball down the court every time and just shooting over delly. He must have had so much confidence every time he saw that midget aussie guarding him lol

Klay did a lot of damage from midrange and once Shumpert locked on him, he didn't have the muscle to effectively score on Shumpert.
I see Kerr trying to create mismatches in offensive sets and Blatt and Lue instructing players to stay home on curry and Klay.

I think cavs would have won quite convincingly if delly was on curry and shumpert on klay from the start
