Default If Kobe is so great. Why hasn't he shot above 50 percent?

For comparison, Tony Parker and Goran Dragic have done it

Tony Parker and Goran Dragic get to the rim much better than kobe. And are great finishers. Same as Jordan.

Plus Kobe is a known to take low percentage shots and convert them at average or maybe even above average rates, which are still low rates.

    But you already knew this.

He's not enamored with efficiency and takes more difficult shots then most players. Kobe looked to score first, not wait for the most efficient shot.

    5 rings speak for themselves.

If Kobe is so great, why hasn't he shot 50% from three?

    Kyle Korver did it

He took more 3s and more shots than most superstars you want to compare. And yes, he has taken more difficult shots too.

    His inefficiency benefits from Kobe-assists

The intuition of his teammates, knowing he is going to chuck another 18 ft fade, position themselves for superior rebounding position

Shooting shitty shots all the time, plus if cold gonna hoist them motherf*ckers up with no regard. If he cared about fg% we would have a dramatic improvement.

    But let's be real

Stats are good, but imagine how much an impact a couple bad shots or buzzer beaters from half court a game can affect seasonal %'s

When it comes down to it basketball is played in the moment, on the court. Stats are a reflection of the moment, but they do not determine the outcome. They can give an idea to the success and tendency of a certain players history, but when it comes down to it guys like Kobe know how to turn it on when it counts... You can't deny Kobe in this... You don't win 5 times if you cant... Yeah he had shaq, yeah he had Pau... But when the crunch is on... Kobe's your man. Check the playoff 4th q stats, better than Shaq... This is the way Kobe plays, sometimes it fails, but 5 times it worked. You can't deny his methods when he has the gold to show for it

Kobe Bryant was always good for four, five or maybe six low percentage shots per game and took a fairly high number of three-point field-goal attempts as well A combination of those things kept his field-goal percentage is lower than it probably should've been.

I always thought Kobe was at his best when he allowed to the game to come to him and not always force himself on the game quite so much like he would sometimes do. Kobe would have been even greater than he was if he demonstrated a little bit more patience and allowed the game to come to him a little bit more often.

I like to imagine if Kobe aimed for high fg% like LeBron did with Miami, and LeBron with 2005-06 Kobe's mentality of shooting rather than trusting teammates.

What an asinine thread. Somehow the round figure of 50% of FG% is your mythical measure of greatness? So if he shoots 46.5% and carries his team to the championship, he's a bad player for not shooting 50%? Ridiculous. Shooting pressure and buzzer shots and 3 point shots obviously factor in there.

It's like saying If Lebron is so great, how come he's never shot over 90% from the FT line? Jeremy Lamb has done it.
