MJ jumped FROM the free throw line, not beyond it

also it is only MJ's toes that touch the line, most of his foot is beyond it

It is a free throw line dunk

His whole foot apart from the heel is in the lane. He also barely manages to dunk the ball at all (put him two more inches back and he clanks it off the front of the rim) and that was on fresh legs without opponents chasing him down while being able to measure out his run-up

Meanwhile LeBron dunked it in the 4th quarter of a basketball game jumping from about two inches closer to the basket, while being chased by two opponents, having to dribble, not being able to measure out his run-up and he still had to duck his head to not hit the rim and ended up behind the baseline.

If he had the same conditions as MJ and leaned in with the dunk instead of cocking the arm back, he would've dunked it even if he had jumped from two more feet further out

Bron's looks more impressive to me since he did it in during a game and he landed out of bounds. that was one insane leap he did.

MJs is pretty no doubt, but Lebron's is just so much more explosive and athletic, not to mention in a game.

I don't agree with fresher legs....LeBron is in a game so its better...but throwing down one dunk then waiting for 5 or 6 guys to dunk probably worse. U warm up prior to completion then sit and wait 15 min til ur next dunk....

I think from that angle I posted, what gets me is his leg kick. I used to try to imitate that dunk back in the day when I was athletic. Did it on 8-9 ft. rims (I could dunk on 10 ft rims, but couldn't do any fancy dunks like I could on the shorter rims).

A great dunk filled with style - as always with MJ - but he did have one foot on the line, that's not his best FT line dunk.

In the 1985 dunk contest, he jumped from beyond the line and also filled with style, grace and power like always. Only the tip of his toe was touching the line if anything.

The 1988 one is much more known and gets "thrown around" way more (also because he won that year unlike in 1985), some haters then procede to say Jordan couldn't jump from beyond the line because of it, without even looking at his 1985 one, which is most likely the best FT line dunk ever (James White did better but not in the NBA let's say).

Looked at the tape he puts on the floor, his toe touched it and it was beyond the ft line.

If somebody could get a gif of that, would be great.
