    Sicky tight.

    ...

But shall I be a stickler and say that he only threw it in a downward motion without touching rim?

it looked good, but i wouldn't call that a dunk.

even though howard did the same sh!t in the dunk contest.... tossing the ball down without even touching the rim at all.

I've always been in the camp of including any forceful throwdowns under the dunk umbrella. At its essence, that's what a dunk is and was - throwing the ball into the hoop instead of lobbing it up there. I have never really believed touching the rim was necessary to deserve a "dunk" declaration.

Regardless, I don't suppose titles should really matter. Whatever you want to call it, it was righteous and it was delightful. I've always found it interesting when folks would watch replays of plays like this to see if a player's fingers grazed the rim or not, withholding props until it could be verified that they did; as if the play would suddenly not be good if it turns out the contact was not there.

If I remember right, a dunk is just a shot that is thrown down from above the rim, so as long as your hand was above the rim, regardless if you touched it or not, it's a dunk.
