How the Matrix movies hold up after time

I always held the first Matrix in high esteem and figured if it was a stand alone film it would have been even more of classic.

I tried rewatching it recently though and it

First Matrix was good. Second one was good. Third one was atrocious.

I really hope I don't have to look at an old-ass Trinity.

The Matrix was brilliant storytelling that resonated differently in 1999 than it would have today. Nowadays, we have high caliber auteur-level direction and writing within even streaming sources.

I'm a huge Terminator fan so the whole A.I. destroying mankind stories are interesting. Having humans be in a virtual stasis and act as batteries for the machines is a terrifying concept lol.

If one were to watch it now, not an adult when it came out, it def wouldn't resonate the same. It's a product of the time in many ways yet also a timeless story in modern times.
