What does skill have to do with anything? In 2002 Allen Iverson averaged 27.8 shot attempts to average 31.4ppg...there are literally dozens upon dozens of players who could have done that. Howard would not even need close to 27.8 (with the 9.8fta iverson averaged) shot attempts to average 31.4ppg

So I guess players like Tyson Chandler, Andre Drummond, and DeAndre Jordan could all be scoring 30+ ppg then? Just what in the hell are theri coach's thinking then? Why have other players scoring 28 ppg on .450 shooting, when these guys would do it easily?

If he got enough shots he could do it. The biggest issue would be his turnovers. He would average around 8 turnovers per game if he was getting 30 per.

Regardless if it is a winning team, I'm just wondering what consensus is whether or not he's simply capable of putting up what would be considered an all-time historically dominant scoring season given his abilities, if he did > 30ppg on > 50% he'd have a season up there in Kareem/Wilt territory as a peak scorer... Shaq and Robinson technically didn't even quite make those numbers (though they came close).

If a coach just designed plays for Howard all the time and didn't care about the results at the end of the game, yes it could be done. But why would any coach do that in the real world?

Dwight's game is extremely hindered by his poor free throw shooting. If he became a 75% shooter at the line, he'd be able to, since teams wouldn't be so quick to foul him.

His FT shooting plays a very minor role imo. It would help if he improved it, but what he really needs is to improve is his footwork, ballhandling, passing, playmaking and dealing with double teams ie qualities needed to be able to run the offense.

Right now the offense runs through Harden, and if that doesn't change Howard won't have a shot.[/COLOR]
