Yes, todays game has a lot more FTs and it's easier to penetrate without the handchecking rules but you guys must also ponder that today's game is much more about ball movement than AI era. I think he would average something like Harden, 29 points tops.

Possibly yeah, but I think people really underestimate the strain of going from even 31 ppg to 35 ppg.
Each extra ppg above 30 gets progressively tougher. It's not easy to score that many times against NBA players, it eventually takes a toll and is exhausting.

why do you think AI would play different? Kobe is getting buckets no matter what today's game is about. If prime Kobe is playing, the other teams can do what they want, Kobe is getting 30+. Why would AI be any different.
Also, why would they be less successful. Lets remember, Kobe just won a title a few years ago playing that way.

That's part of what makes Wilt so special. Dude could actually average 40 FGA a game, while play the entire season save for 8 minutes.

He would still be a high volume, below average efficiency scorer that would be a cancer for a team with other decent players.
In 220 games post rule changes he averaged 29/7/3 on 45FG.. with 2 steals per game. Those numbers are post prime. Theres no way he shoots less than 42-43% in his prime with a good team given how much he would be getting to the free throw line.
On the flip side westbrook would be guaranteed to shoot sub 40% in 00-04 defensive era, and KD would see a big decrease as well as we know what physical contact does to his game.

Re: True or False: Iverson would average 35 in today's league?
There's no way to tell because it depends on the teammates, the coaching staff, and how many shot attempts or freethrow attempts he would take. He certainly could if he was playing on a team like the 76ers, Lakers, or Knicks.

Because the game is different today, it's about all around players. Even when Durant (who is a better scorer than AI because he has a better jumper and is much taller) averaged 32 last year he did with 5 ast a game.
AI would use a screen to penetrate but then the defenses would rotate making him kick it out for shooters, this is how the game is played today.
Plus, no one plays 40+ minutes like he used to.

You think defenses can rotate fast enough to get to AI without fouling? They couldn't even get to Derrick Rose with mediocre shooting around him. Also, AI wouldn't come out for more than 10 minutes a game so he'd play close to 40 minutes. He isn't scared of playing more minutes like todays players.
Also, Kobe was getting 30 with ease on good teams past his prime with these rule changes.
Game isn't that much different. Basketball just follows trends and this is the current trend.

Re: True or False: Iverson would average 35 in today's league?
He put up 26 ppg on 46% after the 2006 perimeter rule change, in 2008 and he was well past his prime.
The very next season his mind, and body broke down. So he was on the way out the league in terms of being a superstar. Now, put prime Iverson in an even more spaced out, free flowing game that it is today?
If Westbrook, Irving, Wall, Lowry, and Lillard are being hyped ... I'm sure Allen Iverson would fare quite well, probably even better than he had previously in a more offensively depressed era '97 - 2005.
