For the Kobe fans, which is a better career?
Since you guys are keen on that "X of X in Finals" logic, this is for you.... lets see if you really honestly are firm believers of that basketball logic by puting you on the spot with this test...
So lets go, which is better:
Kobe #1 - 5 of 7 in Finals - His career as it is, meaning those other 12 seasons he wasnt good enough to carry whatever team he had to the Finals, in some not even good enough to take them to the playoffs.
Kobe #2 - 5 of 19 in Finals - Meaning here he managed to carry the same exact teams all the way to the Finals in all of his 19 seasons, except for it obviously meaning he was a more impactful/better player than above here he also piled up more playoff/finals stats totals & great memories/performances on the big stage for his legacy.
Thats unfortunately the only change going to 5/19 makes for Kobe's current legacy.... it GIVES, rather than TAKES AWAY....
SO, WHICH IS BETTER? #1 or #2?
GO!

So that means player A has lower impactfullness overall, but is less prone to choking when he actually gets an opportunity with his slightly lower ability. And player B is more impactful overall, but in the many opportunities he gets because of his increased ability, he just chokes/squanders them away over and over and over.
Yea... I'd rather be the guy that maxed his potential and made the most out of what he was given than be the all time worse choker of all time.

You're essentially saying losing earlier means you're less of a choker and somehow look better.

Haters believe that it's better to miss the Finals than to get there and lose. Arguing with people that think that way, is pointless. It's comparable to arguing with a 5 year old. These fools honestly believe that losing earlier has less to do with choking, than losing in the Finals does.

If Kobe #2 includes having the biggest meltdown in professional sports, LeBron circa 2011 Finals, then I would have to roll with #1, the better career between the two.

It's not better.
It just exposes your conference and why you are always successful up until the finals.
In that way it hurt everything else you have done....and is therefore worse.

If you lost before the Finals, you probably didnt have enough help and/or had a tough playoff road. If youre expected to win and continously get that far, you should win.
I mean if you make the finals 19 years in a row... you've been on some amazing teams. And to lose 15 times? Imagine if someone led their team their for a decade straight, had 50/50 maybe 45/55 odds of winning and LOST for the whole damn decade?
Could you picture competitors like MJ or Bird or Magic allowing another team or couple teams to continuously stomp them out on the grand stage for decades ?

If clone #1 always fails earlier with the same equipment means he chokes at a higher / more frequent rate than clone #2... and being in the playoffs IS an opportunity, opportunity/road to get you to the Finals trying to win the championship....

So you pick #2?

Come on Kobe fans.... you can do it... #1 or #2....
This has nothing to do with Kobe or Lebron...... this is about your "X of X in Finals" logic, it ignores the whole foundations of basketball ration, logic, reason hence it disrespects any player & team in NBA history.... now that i cant accept....
